Remember 2000
Remember gainsville 2000 when the mysterious 12rs showed up and ran ungody numbers, at the track ? and was said to out topend the current king of speed . I do, i went out and bought the first red 12r i could find on the showroom floor, and paid top dollar 11,999 plus tax and what ever else the dealer could tack on. only to find out that kawi ,didnt install the balls in the sac!!!!!, So now the mysterious 10r showes up running those numbers, that is such a coeincidence right be for release time!!!

Yeah, I remember it well and I bought my 12R anyway, because I wanted a Kaw, not because I wanted to go 200 mph. I got it first from Mich Boehm, then everyone else started on how the 12R wasn't the bike it should have been. Political B.S. has caused more problems than a little bit, but you still have the option to not purchase. I know, I stillhave my 12R and enjoy the heck out it, I will also buy a 10R because I want one, not that I drag race. I rode my friends R1 all summer and would like something a little sportier to ride on the track this year. After 28 years I get to go to a track day on a bike that I think will be a lot of fun to ride in that environment.

I too bought a red 12 in april of 2000. I've beat every stock busa I'ved ever raced, so I dont think kawasaki sold us hype. I've been very satisfied with my 12. It's not perfect but how can you complain about a vehicle that'll top 180 mph for under 12 grand.

Kawpower... what the hell are you talking about? If your ZX12 didnt beat a stock motored Busa.. you need to blame your skills... not Kawasaki Motors, LTD.
I was about to buy a Busa, when I rode both the 12 and Busa back to back.. there was no comparison which was faster and fit me better!
Some advice for you.... dont believe the hype.
I have no delusion Im going 9.0s on a bone stock bike... but it gives me a good indicator of what the bike is capable of.

Kawpower,
Are you saying that you regret buying the 12? If so, you will be the only person on these boards (That I have heard/seen) that feels that way!

First of all u are right about it being nov,1999 , turbo blew. i was in gainsville whatching. and for Koz, NO i have no regrets, i have only owned kawi, because i have been a kawi mechanic, since 1985, and have owned and ridden every big bore sport bike kawi has made since 1983, and still own a 2000zx12r with 20100 miles on it , never had a problem, never alterd it , looks just like it did when i bought it , i payed cash too. i also have a turbo 1996 zx11. Oh i forgot, In October of 1999, while u guys were sitting around slobbering and waiting to get a look at a 12r , I was sitting touching, took picts and vidieo of the ZX12r in sicklerville N.J. just ask RickyG.

I wanted a 200 mph bike and a Kawasaki. I was so pissed, that I sent Kawasaki e-mail telling them that I am thinking of sueing them
They did actually reply back.

I got mine march 23 , 2000.I've never regretted buying it, not once.I ride it almost every day. I've made several hundred passes at the dragstrip and several track days on it. I paid 11,900 for the 1st ,1500 for the second (wrecked with a blown motor) ,and $6500 for my 3rd. I'll be getting a 10r next year and it will be my track bike (road race).

I did. She assured me that the bike is not restricted.

I bought my 12 the day before Easter in 2000 for 11,500. Let's just say that I was way underwhelmed by Kawasaki's answer to some problems with it. The thing always had a surge right at cruising speed and Kaw flat refused to do anything about it. Then there was the clutch deal.......
I traded it to a buddy who works at the shop where I bought it. It trashed the cases when the clutch basket exploded 500 miles after I got rid of it.
Funny how the things I was told were not a problem were all changed on the '01.
Would I buy another 12? Probably.
