OK - got it all back together, turned it on - OIL LIGHT WONT GO OFF!!

Did I do anything wrong?? The oil light won't go out... I did lose a little oil when I dropped the bike (and broke its clutch cover) - but it smelled funny too, like burning metal. Is it possible that I screwed up the oil gear? I Mean everything is together and fit in well... I even reached around the clutch basket to make sure that the gears were fit well, and NOT free turning (so I assumed that everything was together OK and I did the oil gear right). HELLP... I'm changing the oil now, but I Have a sick feeling that I Messed something up?!?!?

I just tore her down again - looks like everything was installed right. I couldn't move the oil pump gear at all, but I took the basket off to inspect everything - looks right. You guys think that the oil light can go on even if the oil shows 1/2 in the sight glass? I'm thinking I May be a bit low, but the sight glass isn't showing it cause the oil hasn't circulated around yet?? anyone?

Well, she fires up normally - idles ok, but I think I have the clutch adjusted wrong and the oil light still stays on. When I shut off the engine, there isn't a burning metal smell, but smoke comes out of the exhaust and the smell is kinda like unburned fuel. I think the clutch is adjusted wrong, because when I engage it and put the bike into gear, the wheel spins . Prolly have to tighten it up. Anyone have any ideas why the oil light won't go out? I'm crapping my pants here, but I have no clue. She sounds normal, but I don't want to idle it more than say 20 seconds or so, for fear that I'll spin a bearing or blow something up. Maybe I should change the oil tomorrow, and try again?

Loosen the oil filter and let it 'burp'.

well, the problem with the "burping" thing is that I DID NOT CHANGE the oil before I changed to the Muzzy clutch. The oil light was fine/off before I changed the clutch... could it be that "air" got into the system by changing the clutch?

I am not sure if you can actually get the clutch cover back on if the synchronized gears are misaligned. Those are the gears behind the clutch basket. They are kinda tricky sometimes to get to set in place fully. I also don't see why the oil light should have been affected?! But, whatever, it is easy to burp and you already have the fairings off!!! The wheel will generally spin on a wheel stand and in neutral and with the clutch pulled sometimes. Especially with new clutches,,,,,Just let it down off the wheel stand.
