Removing the Counterbalancer? Cases Split??
I remember that i was also told that the cases had to be split to remove the counterbalancer on the 11! I remover it and did not split the cases!
WHat gives here??

Well, the zx12 is different.......the way the case is designed retains the counterbalancer. I have now removed mine, and my fingers go to sleep worse than before now. I cruise around at about 5k, and the frequency of the vibration changed to a higher frequency but lower amplitude. My fingers on my throttle hand ONLY really gets numb now. So it feels smooth, until you ride for a while and the buzzing get to you.

you must split the cases to get it out. Unless you are after the last bit of hp
leave it alone and twist the throttle. street rider will be better served
with it in. I think it was muzzy that said balance the crank before you
remove it. Why do you think kawasaki put those in there. Because it was
cheaper than balancing the engine parts.
Everthing has a purpose and a reaction if changed, sometime we like the
reaction. Vibration?

I have no plans to remove mine (I rubber mounted the foot pegs on the 11 and was OK! On another board the question came up and I wanted to speak to the experts 1st!

The balance factor created by the counterbalancer has nothing to do with the crankshaft balance factor. The crank/rods/pistons can be in perfect balance and the counterbalancer performs the same function, to cancel the secondary imbalance caused by the 180 degree "flat" crank. Stock ZX-12 scranks have very good balance. We've explained this before- maybe do a search for more info.

I removed mine, but I would probably leave it in on a Street Only bike.

My MVR built 1361 w/counter balancer removed is much smoother than stock. Yes, all parts were balanced. However, if the counter balancer serves only "to cancel the secondary imbalance caused by the 180 degree "flat" crank," I should be experiencing more vibs, not less ????
