Over 6 weeks now, still no word from the fed's

Strange huh? We were told we'd get notice of our court date within 2 weeks and the court date would be a couple weeks after that. Well, it's been 6 weeks and still nothing. I know that no news may be good news and I know the Fed's are pretty busy nowadays. I wonder if they just thought that Rick and I really are two fine, upstanding citizens wrongly accused by officer Ulery and they shredded our violations? What are the chances we'll get the court date this year?

Shhhhhhhhhhh,..........be quiet........ :)

Honestly, I hope it is next year before we hear anything. I know it's a stretch, but hell I figured it would all be a "Done Deal" by now. But we haven't even got the letter with our case number and court date yet!!! If they drag their feet and let it ride until after January 9,2004 my driving record will have 6 less points on it. That my friend will put my mind more at ease for sure. We shall see I guess?????

I am quite puzzled at why we haven't been contacted though. I am going to do as I am told though and not contact anyone in Asheville per my attorney. Suspense is a MF ain't it.

Good Question.....

I dunno about that, but I do know that everyone I've talked to has said that we definitely should have had some news by now. Even if our court date was scheduled 6 months down the road, we should have been notified by now. I think someone dropped the ball, problem is how do we discreetly found out?????

The prob is that the violation goes to the Central Bureau in fucking TEXAS!! At least that's what is supposed to happen. If the local office didn't file the violation, then Central never hears about it, and never sends you a notice to appear in the local magistrate's court. In Zhooligan and I's case, they fucking filed the notice a YEAR late, and Central Bureau STILL sent us a notice.

Is that right swft? They send it to Texas then it comes to us? And are you saying you got busted by the Fed's and didn't hear anything for a YEAR????????? What happened?

I think you better find out, boys. Fat chance they just 'forgot' about it.

And the way those things go, if you missed your court date that's just tough tittie. I got a notice in a day before I was supposed to appear - but I was away on a business trip and didn't get in until too late.

'Tough shit' was my answer.

Well, just a few days after 9/1/1, Zhooligan and I got popped in the Gifford Pinchot national forest by a smokey bear motherfucker. It was total bullshit, in that he cited BOTH of us for going a particular speed. We weren't even riding together when he supposedly clocked us on radar. So we both decided to contest the ticket. Sent it in to the address printed on the citation. And waited....and waited... After about 10 months, figured what the hell, they must have dropped the case. And yowee! Got a "Failure to Appear" notice. This notice had the date of the infraction, but it was for 2002 So we went down to court in Vancouver, WA and showed up in Court. First appearance, mind you. Explained our case, and asked how the hell it could take a year for the ticket to get processed. The Prosecutor said she'd investigate (ya, right...) And we got a court date. Showed up for the court date, and the Prosecutor looked at us, huddled over with the Smokey Bear motherfuckers...Much shrugging of shoulders and "I dunno, I'm just some stupid fuck in a forest ranger costume" looks ensued... She came over and as much as admitted that they had no idea why the fuck it took so long and told us she decided not to prosecute.

The difference here swft is that right on the violations it says mandatory court appearance so even if we wanted to just pay the fine we can't, we don't even know what the fine is, we can't do anything until we get word from them. I'm just gonna hang out and wait, something will come sooner or later. Glad you got and Z got yours waived.

I would wait also. There must be a time table on this. That if you don't get the summons they can't take you to court in a certain time frame.

I believe it is your right to a speedy trail as the accused. And if for some reason the time lapses it has to be thrown out. Thats why I would'nt contact em.

Maybe Since we all left and exited the park. He shredded the tickets himself. Feeling bad that tax paying U.S. citizens were turned back from park by him and when he seen our license plates being from all over country. And we did all leave in a orderly manner.

It could have been a scare tactic. And he wanted to see how everybody reacted. We were courtious and polite and we all exited the park.

I hope

Honestly, Rick and I thought we were closer to 70 than 85. I mean we were still warming the tires up after having lunch, we weren't but a couple miles into the parkway. We were just getting ready to pull the trigger when we got busted.

True.......

Agreed Otis, Ranger Cocksmoke never showed us the radar. As soon as I saw Officer Douchebag I looked at the speedo, I was between 70-75. Both our bikes are regeared and yellow box equiped. I'll once again call "Bullshit". We were not doing 85. I bet the guys that were behind us can probably verify this too. It's all a moot point now though.
