Maxton report

What a BLAST!!!
It was great to see Vincent & family and Bergie too, we enjoyed the supper and company guys. Thanks to you both for your input and help.

We went after some gas records that "were" owned by Mr. Motorcycle Scott Guthrie on his 'Busa.

Chad claimed two records at 207+ and Zack took one record at 207+ while riding Tim Haigs 1361.

We never had a chance to figure out a problem with the bike slowing down, their entrance speeds were higher than their exit speeds. We've got the winter to get ready and then we're going after the fastest all motor record, it's within reach for sure.

One scary moment....I was filming in the finish line tower and saw white smoke on one of Chad's passes. While in 4th gear the coolant line popped off from the rear of the engine and he did not know it. He went through the entrance trap at 208.75mph with anti-freeze all over the bike and rear tire.
We replaced the line, topped off the fluid and Zack promptly ran over 207 to claim his record!
Lee Sheirts helped us out with the clean-up, so thanks to him. Also, Lee ran the fastest pass ever at 250mph on Yancy's turbo 'Busa. It sure was fun to watch.

Also I want to say thanks to the mom of all moms and the wife of all wives, my better half, Lydia. She is so helpful and supportive. It's easy for a dad to help and watch their sons participate in these events but not too many mothers are willing to go along with such "nonsense".
My sons and I are really fortunate that she is part of our team.
A special thanks to Tim for letting Zack & Chad flog his bike, he ran over 192 but due to the time constraints gave up his seat time for them to go after the records.
Sorry for the long post....I'm one proud oldkawboy.
Dan

I am interested in this hose coming off. Its happened twice on my 1270. Once at 205 mph, once at just over 200. Any advice would be appreciated. Keith

Very cool deal Dan, glad to see Mom keeps her boys (that includes you) in line and has fun doing it. It doesn't get any better than that.

Hope to see you at Gainesville,

Dave

Doug,
The bike is a poster child for Muzzys!
1. Muzzys 1361 kit
2. Muzzys cams & kit with sprockets
3. Muzzys fuel pump
4. Muzzys Pro Pipe
5. 48 mm throttle bodies

The bike is Tim's everyday streetbike and he's put over 3,000 trouble free miles on it since the stroker installation.
Dan

BTW...I saw where Chad made Muzzys Racing News on your web page. Thanks to Muzzys for the contingency money.

207 is awesome! I can only imagine the grin that must've been on the boys' faces. (and thus yours too I'd guess)

This shows that although there has been banter regarding the Pro pipe and Muzzys cams on the dyno, the combo WORKS in real life. There is no denying 208mph at Maxton all motor!!!!! WOO!! Congrats! Screw the dyno numbers! I'd say the whole Muzzys package works great!

Dan, please tell Lydia (Not Linda) I will get it correct next time! (I am still not crossing her path "Without permission" ) I watched Peggy as her chest expanded as Randall rode my bike and got his Class "B" License at 181+ on his 175 MPH Pass. Yes it is a Rare Mother that can watch her pride and Joy go at these speeds. They are truly special. Dan, you and I are not lucky to have them, We have been blessed to have them

Thanks everyone. I know there's a fine line between being proud and bragging and I don't want come off sounding like I'm boasting too much on my sons but it's soooo cool being involved with the family on something we all enjoy so much.

Warbird,
Buy him all the toys you want, just remember, the most important thing you can spend on him is time. Congratulations in a big, big way.

One foot note....When Chad broke his first record that was set at 204.5mph it put him in the 200mph club. Even though he has ran over 200 before at the Maxton meets, he never claimed a record until this past Saturday. There was a guy there who writes for Motorcyclist magazine and said he will try and put something in about us being the first father/sons nationally setting motorcycle records over 200 and us all being in the 200mph club.
There I go bragging again.....sorry :-)
Dan
