You're correct swft. I did.

Now all the wires and cables are hooked up (except the four front USB cables & the front audio/video cables).

I need to tidy it up a bit before I proceed. I'll do that later tonight.

I am almost there, but I don't want to rush...

*laughs* Hey, if you scout around, you can find wireless keyboard and mouse sets going for as low as $10...Course, you always get what you pay for.

Well. It would not come up. Nothing showed up on the monitor. Swft spent 15 minutes with me over the phone, without any luck. I'll take to computer store tomorrow.

He also gave me few good trouble shooting tid bits for next time.

Very nice of SWFT to help ya out like that, gold star for swft.

A. was your monitor's 'power' light amber or green? I'm guessing amber.
B. can't remember your vid. card, but, the 9800 Pro takes a POWER fitting! You might want to look at yours real quick to see if it needs a dedicated power plug.

You should probably have an LED showing up brightly on the motherboard with just the power cord plugged in. Green usually means it SEES the video card in the AGP slot. (brown slot)

Hey BA - When he called me I had him power it down and pull the ide cables from the momboard and check for any bent pins. Also pulled and reseated the momboard power connector. I was suspecting power because it wasn't even getting to post. The ASUS has that voice post thing, wasn't making it that far... When I build a new one, I usually start by just sticking the cpu, ram and video card in it, then making sure it will post. Then doing the hard drive and cdrom and any other cards if needed. I try to use KISS as much as possible.

Monitor light was amber. The motherboard light was green.

swft this is making me nervous. Oh well, the adventures of trying something new.

It's funny what did with the back panel where all the plugs come out of

I told swft that this reminded me when we went drag racing for the first time.

hmmm. No post at all. Hmmm. I actually have that problem right now with a family members PC. Old POS. I don't even get beep codes.

I was thinking about ordering a new bios chip, clearing it with the jumper didn't help.
Maybe I'll double check the CPU just to be safe.

Nec, by the time this thing is complete *and on the Internet* we'll all be on nano-technology computers that we wear as a wrist band or necklace and they'll all do adjustable holographic technology.
