I am eyeing an ATI 129 mb vidoe card. There is no visible difference between the 128 and 256 in performance, but there's a big one in cost.

*nods* I think you mean 128MB. Any particular reason for the ATI? If you want the best Direct X 9 compatibility, I would recommend the Radeon by ATI. Next best would be the Nvidia.

I've had a few radeon cards, there nice. One I killed from overclocking the chip without proper cooling, so thats my fault.
I'm running the 8500 all in wonder now and its a great card.

Get an ATI Radean 9700 pro 128 - not TOO 'spensive and GREAT performance for anything (even games if you are so inclined later...). Its about 250 bucks or so (with shipping).

BTW - I have a Radeon 8500 AIW, a Radeon 9700 Pro and a Radeon 9800 Pro 256. The performance differences between the 8500 and the 9700 pro are HUGE, while the differences between the 9700 Pro and 9800 Pro are SMALL .

Have you guys seen the cut out cases and neon lights for cases? The shows around here sell lighted fans cables and cases that flash with the sound card or some damn thing.

That ASUS board is a solid pick Necro. Good choice.
No reason to spend the money for the AMD XP3000 though, because in your motherboard setup, it's SOOO easy to make the XP2500 (and up) chips run just as fast. You don't even have to worry about extra fans or heat, or problems either.
You just go into "setup" by hitting Delete when booting, move the cursor to the 2nd pull-down menu, then the second option in that menu.
Right there you can easily make the AMD XP chips run just a bit faster to save you some CASH$$$.
yes, I'm doing it, and literally, thousands of others are as well. maybe tens of thousands.
The Zalman P/S wasn't too bad of a choice either, although I still prefer Antec and Fortran.
I'm with you Necro, the Kingwin cases look sweet. I intend to get one soon.
I think the 9700Pro card would be an excellent choice if you have the cash.
WHATEVER you do, just MAKE SURE the video card you DO get is "DirectX 9 compatible". If you don't, you'll just be shortchanging yourself and possibly be wanting to upgrade the card sooner than expected. (assuming you will play a few new games on this machine)
