Micron Serpentine exhaust opinions?
Just to be a little different, I am looking at the Micron Serpent system for my 12R.
Anyone used/installed one before? I have seen a few folks buy them , but they never post back up as to how they liked them.
The engineering for the headpipes is pretty cool. But no one has really posted up how they improved performance-wise. Again I am not looking for huge power gains -- I know who gives those --- I am looking to be a bit different.
thanks.

I run a Micron on my 6RR track bike, adn it makes sick HP...cant give you numbers only seat of the pants Dyno readings....I am not running a Serpent, but the limited production race header for the 6RR.....Micron claims it made 12 RWHP....not convinced of that number, but I would bet it is making close to 10....which on a 600cc bike is pretty good.....and the fit and finish is top notch......

micron is the pipe
i have a micron s s full system with chrome can. colored cans fade bad. i have beat every bike i have raced.and i beat them real good. 1st gear punch around 5000 rpms.i shift into 2nd and 3rd in the air. they don't have a chance.
i met a new guy around here the other weekend. he has a 03 12r. all stock. he was in 1st and i was in 2nd. we punched off and slowly in each gear i reeled him in. he told me he never had anybody pass him at 175mph before. those poor lttle busa's and gixxer 1000's are mad at me too. fuckem. i don't race to lose. do you.

Thanks Mark & HDL.
I was running a stock headpipe and a green ART (Europe) bolt-on can, very distinctive, good sound, but was recently rearended, and its time for a replacement exhaust.
The green looked awesome, but the ART's color did fade quite a bit over the few months the can was on there. Not surprised to hear that the Micron colors fade too.
Sounds like the performance is there. Glad you're happy with it. Think it sounds like the upgrade I am looking for.
Appreciate it.

Probably because they dont make any difference. Only bike I recall having them was a 954 and didnt make anymore hp vs a conventional header. Not a fan of their products anyway.

TurboBlew is close. Hydroforming, which is the "technology" they use on this particular design has been around a long time. Without getting into a long tech spiel, just use some common sense. If you're squeezing the opening closed in the exhaust port section of pipe, where you're actually looking for expansion of burned exhaust gas (or continuance), you're going to have reversion, back pressure, venacontracta, whatever term makes you happy. That's not good for making power.
Even if you're not a "Tech-head". Try to read through the marketing hype and look at the design. Does it make sense? Do the testimonials from all the endorsers/racers make sense? Do you really think those racers are actually running that particular style headpipe???...........

Well, shit. I hate all this logic talk ... because it makes perfect sense.
I really, really wanted the green can! And I wanted a reasonably efficient design. But I am thinking that TurboBlew's opinion is right on, as well. If is was a good performer than it would be getting press time on this board. It goes on, it looks good, but performance is not improved. That is why no one pipes up after the install with gushing remarks about it after-the-fact.
I have since gone through hundreds of posts on this board talking about exhaust .... it gets your head swimming! :O
I am still keeping the poser system as Micron. But if I can get over the color aspect, then its a polished Hindle for me, can you color them with a magic marker?
