you will need to get a service manuel to find out what the codes mean..the wire conector that you ground is under the rear seat by the right side sub frame , close to the ecm....later killer

That is a code 12 for the intake air pressure sensor. I just fixed my new (to me) 12R for the exact same problem. Take off the LH plastic panel and inspect the wiring to the sensor (look at the area by where the inside of your leg would be if you were sitting on the bike). The sensor is hidden inside the frame and is attached to the frame by the same nut that is used to attach the ground wire in the area. It is a 3 wire sensor and also has a vacuum line attached to it (or it should anyways). Check for vacuum (use a vacuum gauge, your finger, etc). Mine was connected properly, but I took the whole wiring harness apart (back to where it crosses through the frame) and found 4 wires that were damaged and were either fully open circuit or hanging on by a strand. I soldered and shrink tubed the wires (remember these are computer circuits...any resistance from poor connections is a very bad thing....AND without a watertight seal you could be doing this repair next year again when the corrosion kicks in...basically do it right). I started the bike and no more light on!!! You may not have the exact problem, but this should get you in the area, anyways..
