DGVI, more pics and thoughts

Well, another event come and gone, and gone to quickly. The week went by so fast I felt I left before I got there. While I am absolutely furious over the shit with the Fed's the bottom line is that it's my fault and as my wife said, you play, you speed you pay. It's just too bad whenever I think about the trip that's the 1st thing I think about. Looks like there is no way I can get this done here in Detroit so I'll be driving back to NC next month to face the punisher.

On to better thoughts, some thoughts about brotherhood. Ya I know it's a term thrown around a lot in the motorcycling community but it means something to me. If any of you noticed I called all of you "brother" down there, frequently. And I mean it, you fellas are are that important to me and I don't say it lightly. For example: Jon Wright, I rode him a bit at DGV and hung out but it was his first trip and in this group you never know if some will come back for a second. He did and I'm fired up he did. He turned out to be a great guy and I rode with him a lot of miles but what stuck out for me was Wednesday on the parkway when I became commander kickstand. While of course all the guys were with me in this dilemma and every one of em' travelled with me to Hendersonville (against my wishes cause I didn't want to fuck up the rest of the day for everyone cause of my dumb ass) Jon followed me to the welding shop, hoping to get his boot protecter welded too, he didn't. But the point is when I talekd to Bart and he informed me everyone was leaving the restaurant to head back to the cabin and I asked Jon if he wanted to go with them, he flat out said no, he was staying with me. That fired me up, I would have been ok alone of course but it was the point, you know, never leave a brother behind. Then there was the fuck up on I-40 and there was NO way to get back the fast way. It was getting late in the day and the only way to avoid the shit was to go BACK the way we came, over the blue ridge and then over the mountain and then acreoss little river road again, that's NOT the short way back. But we hit it and went on, when we stopped for gas in Cherokee we still had quite a ways to go, over the mountian and I told Jon, sorry about this borther and he looked at me and said "Nothing but a thing, lets roll" That my friends is what brotherhood is all about. Thanks Jon, I told you of all the trips I've made on the parkway that was one I will never forget. Riding with you was a blast, especially for those last 7-8 miles on the Skyway when we decided to go.

Now I could tell stories about every one of the fellas there but it'd take forever so I'll be brief.

Sherm changing out my clutch plates for me on my first night there and looking like a happy camper doing it, he is a great guy who would do anything to help a brother out. THANKS BROTHER.

Riding with Mark on the Gap Friday was one of my best ever runs of that road, we were in synch and even though I knew at any moment he could be GONE on the next turn, he hung back at a pace I could run so we could ride together. He is also one of the nicest fellas you'd ever meet, that'd do anything for you. THANKS BROTHER

Harry and I rode a lot together on the days Rick rode with Gina, we had awesome runs on the Skyway, once on the back half with he and I and Mark, hauling the mail and then once with just the two of us where I even lead for a while and all of you know I hate leading, but I did good. And while Harry may be the most politically incorrect MF there is, I know he fucking be there for me in a second if I ever asked. THANKS BROTHER

Barto, as usual always there for you and I followed him for a good 20 miles of the Skyway happy that he has improved sooooo much and then he and I and Harry and Rick running the Parkway was just fucking awesome. Bart a brother to the end, can't wait to go to Vegas for his wedding.

Rick, well what can I say about Rick, we're buds, nothing beats riding with Rick, one of the few that's been to every gap trip with me. Bart made a comment about us being Ponch and Jon riding together and while it was good natured rub I could care less cause Rick and I ride almost exactly the same way and following him we get in the zone and it's fucking ON! There is nothing like riding with someone who you can predict every twist of the throttle (with resulting darkie of course) and every stab at the brake over the course of endless miles. THANK YOU BROTHER!

Roger is the fucking man when it comes to bikes, not only is he just rediculously fast, one of those guys like Mark that can just say SEE YA at any moment, he is a gifted mechanic that has no problem literally dropping what ever he is doing to help you out, ie: the NASCAR pit stop on Little River Road to get me back up and running in all but 15 minutes. Also one of the nicest fellas you'll ever meet. Oh, and if you ever get on a road called the Foothills Parkway or 360 in front of him? Keep an eye on your mirror cause that fucker is coming and it won't be long before he's gone. LOL THANK YOU BROTHER!

Jim and Jeff and Norm and Rob, 1st time with us, bummer Jeff couldn't ride but it was great riding with Jim, Rob and Norm. I had a great time hanging out with you and I know you guys will be back. Oh, and Jim, didn't anyone tell you that 150mph behind me on 360 is against the law? LOL THANK YOU BROTHERS

Of couse the womens were great too, Gina and Cathy and Kelly and Melissa are awesome and welcome any time.

As far as May goes for me, it's too soon to tell, shit I may not have a license even then depending on how things go at court and I have another baby due in Feb so we'll see. You all know I'll be there if at possible, these trips are incredibly important to me. OK, now I'm done yapping, here are some more pics.

PS, "can I get a plate with these buns?"

This shirt Jim had on, cracked me up.

great pics Chris.....all I can say is that I had a blast riding with you biatches....I know 150 is not exactally leagle, but when you are riding with someone that is smooth and predictable, its not hard to do......I could go on and on about my expierences up there riding with the crew. But I wont.....all I can say is "is it may yet"?

Amen brother.........

Chris,
Even though I am totally a nervous fucking wreck with this Federal court case pending and shit, I still had an awesome time. I truly won't be able to savor the memories of the trip until we know what our fate will be. I am really scared that I won't have a driver's license after our case is heard. I know it is far too early to speculate about next May, but I figure no matter what happens at court next month I'm gonna sit next year out. I've got a lot of soul searching to do. I ride entirely too fast on the street and it's catching up to me in a big way in tickets and fines. My insurance and license once again are hanging by a thread and I am tired of this shit. I'm fucking so frustrated by this even though I know it is my own fault.

Before the trip I was utterly stoked about the scope of it all. Spent a ton on getting ready for the trip. The spent even more on last minute repairs to Lil' Red. Then the whole time this was going on my mind was pondering over the new crop of literbikes and wondering what was going to be LR's stable mate. Now after the incident on BRP I am questioning if I even need to buy a more capable bike for the twisties. The 12 already gets me in enough trouble now. Plus I'm figuring that my insurance rates are about to eliminate any chance of me adding anything extra to my policy. It all sucks the cock, and I'm fucking fuming more and more as each day goes by. I hope this is all just a very faded memory come next spring. Enough of this horseshit though.

The trip:
It was great hanging with all you worthless sonofabitches for a week. It's awesome to hook up with guys that you can trust to ride within their limits and not get into a pissing contest. I could write a book on each of the Smackhouse Boyz and what they mean to me but I'll keep this all as brief as I can.

Bart, even though I give you more shit than you deserve, you are a hell of a friend. Your riding has come leaps and bounds since I first met you. You're doing great, just keep doing what you're doing. But it ain't ALL about the riding with me. You're a hard partying stupid MF to boot. That's a plus with me brother.

Lucky, what's there to say about this man. He's a straight forward, good hearted, smooth ridin', Miller Lite drinkin' just all around great guy that's always quick to reach out to a friend. He's fun to hang out and party with, and a definite blast to ride with. He is one of the fastest, smoothest riders I know. That fuckin' red 12R of his is a bad MF too. I hate that we live so far apart because he is an awesome friend to me, but like he said, we'd all probably lose our license and be ridin' the short bus.

Chris, plain and simple, this boy is my motherfucker. I have ridden more miles with him than any of the other Smackhouse fucksticks. He's a great rider and I really enjoy burnin' through those mountains with him. We have had some awesome rides together for sure. But, once again it ain't all about the riding. He's a great friend that has been there for me through thick and thin. I will always be thankful to Chris for things he has done for me. Plus, he too is a stupid hard partying MF. For a Michigan resident he is alright. Plus he and I may be cellmates in the near future. I think he'll make a good lil' bitch for me. LOL!!!!

Harry, this sumbiatch here is my nigga. You can travel the world 10 times over and you'll never find another guy like Harry. He is one of the funniest bastards I know, and he'll say anything,...anywhere. He literally does not give a fuck. He can keep me laughing until my sides are aching. He is one of the best friends I've got in the world. I am very fortunate to be able to call Harry my friend. Anyone that knows Harry can tell you he is one of a kind, and a bike ridin' MF. Just because he is big does not mean he is slow. When he gets ready to go he can flat haul, nobody that has ridden with him can dispute that. I've had the chance to ride a lot with Harry over the past couple years and it's a blast. I'll never forget last September when he and I hit the Foothills on our first day there. That was a banzai run if I ever saw one.

Roger, this bastard can ride, and ride fast. I have some awesome memories of riding the Cherohala with this cat just fucking rollin'. He is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and a fuckin' crackerjack mechanic. He is definitely a great guy.

Sherman, here is a unique individual for certain. Probably the most indepth thinker I know. This is the most prepared individual I know. Sherm is there anything that you DON'T have in that truck and trailer??? He's a good friend, great storyteller, and a good safe rider. Even though he DID try to throw an Eboz style pass on me & Gina on the Foothills. IT WAS ASS SHERM!!!!!! I also owe him much thanks for helping me with Lil' Red prior to the event.

Jon, Ol' Chef Bloodburger himself. He is a crazy bastard for sure. He wiped out the Ruckus TWICE and that was some funny shit. Always good to see him and ride with him. Jon can hual ass when he wants to, a very good rider. He's been known to do a little partying too.

Like I said, I could write a book on any of these guys, but I better not. I was also fortunate enough to meet HDL and his wife Kelly. Both are super nice people, and good riders. I hope to get to know them better in the future. They fell right in with the Smackhouse Crew (not easy) and were a lot of fun.

I also got to meet Sherm and Jon's buddy Jeff who didn't get to ride due to injuries he received prior to the Gap event. He was a really cool guy that really had a rough gig. Poor fella sat there on the porch with is leg proped up watching all of us suit up and ride off everyday. I really felt for him, but he took it in stride and kept a cheerful attitude. He did a lot better than I would have, I'd have been one grumpy motherfucker. My hats off to you Jeff.

Rob and Norm, the Ohio Players. You guys were a hoot to hang with. I foresee a lot of waffles in both your futures. Seriously it was nice to meet and ride with you fellas.

Cathy, my dear woman you have obviously got a heart of gold to put up with Bart like you do. But I'm glad he has someone like you in his life. Don't hesitate to beat the fuck out of him if he needs it. You were a lot of fun to hang out with, plus I loved it when you would smoke the shit outta Bart. YOU GO GIRL!!!!!

I'd also like to thank Melissa for taking Gina shopping on her day off. That was very thoughtful of her for sure.

I hope I didn't forget anyone, and if I did please don't take it personal. Had a blast and I already miss all of you terribly.

Oh yeah........

I forgot about Gene. He is kinda like Harry, a unique individual for sure. I didn't get to ride much with Gene thanks to Ranger Ulery , but hopefully in the future I can. It was nice to meet you Gene, you're a crazy bastard too.

I just got off the phone with Rick to tell him my good news. It seems that I will NOT have to go back to North Carolina to face the judge I just need to request a Rule 20 to get it transfered to the Eastern Michigan District. Whew! One bullet dodged, now if I can just get out of this for under a grand and keep my license.

I just hope I can do the same brother!!!! If I have to go to Asheville and face "The Man" so be it. I'd rather be tried in good Ol' Tennessee though,.....scratch that, I'd rather not be tried at all. Still, your phone call has made me feel a tiny bit better, Thanks.

If you look closely at the top picture, right below the sign and above the table, you'll see a "bald spot" on the mountain. The bottom picture is a closer look.

Thanks, bro. Kind words, indeed. You know I'm up for an adventure. Ain't no thang riding back, lost, pissed off, and cold (well, for a Southern boy I'm not used to those large temp swings). Didn't want you to ride back by yourself. And I'm glad your timing was good enough to keep you from winding up as a hood ornament for that truck!

I do have to say that I am very thankful (in a VERY selfish way) that I wasn't with you instigators on Saturday - most likely I'd be right there with ya.

Sucks dood.

Thanks for posting the action pics! When I get to the crib tonight I'll post the pics I have.

Isn't there a scooter shot with me flipping da bird?

That ride down the West side of the Skyway was fun, wasn't it?

Rick, I want to see that pic of Harry and Sherman fucking my bike! Yeah...I'm twisted like that....

I had a great time and I'm glad I got to spend time with all the familiar faces and the new ones I met for the first time.I want to thank rick for coming to my rescue and sherman and jim for helping me when my cct took a shit on the dragon.I would like to also thank rodger for the help he gave me and I'm sure glad redelk had that high speed grinder with that cutoff wheel, thanks.
I've had some of the best times in my life I've ever had, spending time and riding with the brothers at these DG events. Thats not a statement I make lightly as I have had a lot of good times in my life.I have rode camels around the pyramids of egypt and motorcycled through a lot of europe including the alps ,germany, holland switzerland, wales and england.
It's been wide open at work since I got back so my fun is mostly over for awhile!

I cannot believe a GAP trip without you. It is just not right.
I too am going to be absent in May most likely, Cathy is a wonderful girl and I need to take hear somewhere that doesn't involve motorcycles.
Keep me posted and thanks for the kind words, I am getting faster I think.

You are.....

You are getting faster Bart, no doubt about it.

I will keep you informed on the BRP fiasco. Also, let the record state that I cannot even imagine a DG Event going on and not being there. I've been to every one, and if I do indeed have to sit next year out it will be a painful experience.

Rick, Gene, like everyone else I met there, is a great guy.....I talked with him quite a bit. He is also one crazy SOB!!! Therefore he fit in . He had us laughing so fucking hard at that overlook when we were waiting to see what happend to you two (at a time no one was in a laughing mood), that I bet Bart is still drying the piss out of his leathers. He was laughing so hard he pissed himself!

Great bunch of guys and a great bunch of riders!!! That makes one hell of a combination. Is it time for DG&7? DAmn I'm going for a ride.

Jim - why don't you come down and do a track day at jennings gp on the 25th of oct. ? http://jenningsgp.com/events.htm

I hope turbodog fucker will make it too. There is a guy here in Lake City that has a blue 2002 12 that is going too. Your 600 would be a lot better suited for jennings.
