If the ZX-10 rolls 160 hp then....
Who would buy an 04 12? Would Kawi really be that stupid? Maybe the 04 12 will make more hp too ? Any way you look @ it, 04 is going to be a competitive year! I can hardly wait

If it rolls 160 rwhp and weighs around 400 lbs, it will join the stable immediately!

Wish I could do the same, but after breaking the bank on my 1361, I can only dream.

It'll be good horsepower wise, but it won't match the midrange punch or torque of the 12. -ZXtra

The Motor is a Bad design though for any upgrades! it is going to be Very Expensive to upgrade this beast! not to say I wouldent take one to play around on. but then again I would probably just buy another 12.....

The most interesting part of these opinions is what we all prefer to do with the bike. Myself, I prefer to drag knees, slide the rear, and brake hard, so the ZX10 will get abused nicely. Many others prefer pure drag racing. While others are probably a mix in-between and/or just want the nastiest bike on the planet. But maybe they really never explore it's full potential. Either way, it's all good & I'll still be keeping the 12.

Honda's new CBR, Yamaha's new R1 and of course the 10R will make the liter class surreal for '04. Less than a handful will get anywhere close to the potential of any of these bikes (or even a "ole" Gixxer). Though spec sheets and reviews might put one above the other, when it comes to these bikes, the olny "superior factor" will be what's on the seat.

Right on. It is the American way I guess for some squid to go out and buy the latest and greatest and not have a clue as to what he has or how to ride it. I am sure most of us here can hand a squid their ass when the roads get twisty.

Right on Sherm.......
I agree with you Sherman, 100%. The rider is the biggest factor. There isn't a guy on this board that hasn't had his ass handed to him at least once, by someone who was on what was supposed to be an inferior machine when compared to what they were on. I remember when it happened to me about 10 years ago, and it was a guy named Ron on an old Beemer with hard bags. That fucker was insane, draggin' the shit outta those bags, and gettin' crossed up on exits from damn near high-centering the biatch. If I hadn't witnessed it with my own eyes I'd have never believed how damned fast he could rail on that heap. I gave him his props, but told him he was about an crazy sonofabitch for riding that way.
I think all the '04 literbikes will be awesome, a quantum leap for the class. I can't wait to sample them.

Yup. Although I can say the 12R will still be a good GT bike - good for high speed touring and clipping along at 120 mph while comfortable - and sipping a drink.
I think the 12R is the motorcycling equivalent to a BMW M5. Don't race many of 'em - but you will still be hauling MUCHO ass and be very comfortable.
The liter bikes are like tricked out Porches made for the track.
