The R6 IS a world class machine. Last year at the Master Bike Shootout it came down to 3 bikes on the last day. Gixxer 1000.......Gixxer 750 and the little R6. The bikes are chosen on lap times in each class. This years Master Bike Shootout turned out much the same....Gixxer 1000.......Aprillia RSV Mille......and........you guessed it.........the little R6.

The field included all the 600's and the Duc 748.........Ducati 999...Honda VTR 1000 SP-2........Suz. GSXR 750....Ducati 999S.....Honda CBR 954...R1.......ZX9......Gixxer 1000....

The R6 whipped most all of the entries.......and looked good doing it.

My wife has had the best of superbike offerings for the 18 years we have been married. ( me too ) The Gixxer 1000 in the garage is hers ( I like to claim it every chance I get ) as is the 2002 R6. She swears it is the best bike she has ever owned for the combination of handling, braking and power. In 1986 I watched as she rode the first GSXR 750 out of the parking lot that the dealership had recieved. We all watched.......sales, technicians, customers........

She went back to that dealership a short while later and bought me the matching GSXR 1100.

She hasn't stopped since.

What I'm ramblin' on about here is she is a REAL good motorcyclist. NOT a "good rider for a girl." (She's heard that about a million times )

So when she says the R6 is a GREAT bike..........I take her word for it.

has anyone rode the new 03 R6? I rode my kid brothers when I went home, I am not impressed with the bike for everyday riding. the ergos suck, and it doesnt even start to make any hp, until its turning 8 grand. i need more on the bottom for a street bike, my 01 6R make lots more power down low. True its nowwhere near the hp on top. His R6 seem to be a bit twitchy on the fast curvy stuff. I dont like this, I like a lot more neutral feel, I dont want the bike doing anything I dont tell it to. I am looking for a new 600 to be a track bike and to ride up in the mountains, I have it nailed down now to the ZX6RR, or ZX6R, or the CBR600RR. Unless Suzuki steps up, or yamaha can impress me with the 04's.

Problem with the CBR is the availability of performance parts...I see that Akro has a new exhaust for it already. The new 6RR promises to deliver wiht some pretty serious updating. And there are plenty of performace options for it. Hopefully Kawi will sort the suspensions this year, so you dont have to spring for new Ohlins stuff first off.

The shop I work at is huge and brand new this year.
We are so busy that the service manager "turns away" lots of vehicles over ten years old due to the pain in the ass factor.
So far its only been mostly older viragos with carb crust-itis.
But you're right, its not all glory and brand new R-1 test rides.

Has anyone mentioned that the R1 will have 180HP at the crank? That's only a few down on the 12 and it weighs 100 lbs less!!!! This will be a rocket.

all of the new liter class bike will be in the same area......if they wanna impress me with the R1 give it 180hp at the tire......out of the box......and them make it handle......guess I am still old school, i prefer the way a ZX9R handles to a GSXR1k or and R1...never rode a CBR954 yet....but I know where I can get an new 03 954 for 7900 out the door.....the guy has 3 of them left.....

A few things, the Air Flow does not like the exhaust on the outside! +1 for Yamaha

The 12 started the frame over the engine, not the Yam and ZX10 are that way +1 for Kawasaki!

Central Ram Air, The Yamahs has it, but who started it? +2 for Kawasaki

Stacking the shafts to make the engine shorter? +2 for Yamaha

Cylinder and Case one piece? Wasn't that Honda? +1 Honda

Extreme light weight? +1 Suzuki (Not sure how to score them now after the merger!

Radial calipers +3 Kawasaki first there!

Last Sex appeal Green +4 Kawasaki!!

work....

Steve,
I can't believe she let you take a picture of her while she was at work. Harry told me that she had started dressing better, but MAN I had no idea she'd became that much of a "fashion slave". She's really shaping up too, I can tell the gym has yeilded AWESOME results!!!!!
Harry has got to be proud.
