DGVI Preliminary report
ok fellas I just got back from up there at TWO....put 505 miles on the bike yesterday. They ahve been getting alot of rain up there over the past few weeks....there is a lot of gravel spread out over the back roads, but the main roads are pretty clear. Bring your rain suits...rained every day this weekend, every piece of leather I own is wet. The Dragon had some gravel in spots, but not too bad...and the Cherahola is perfect...except for the lightening that was crashing down around us. Wyah Rd. is in fairly good shape. some Gravel on the west end, but the east side was a great ride...watch the decreasing radius turns on that rd...there are a few of them. I didnt get a chance to get the Parkway to see what kind of shape its in...heared a few riders talk about construction on it, and lots of cops....(its was a hloiday weekend it was expected)
On the GA side of the house...Wolf Pen gap road is really nasty with gravel...My buddy dropped his brand new ZRX on it at the bridge. (anyone got a footpeg bracket for the left side 2003 model....with 800 miles on it...lol).
Hwy 60 was great....Richard Russel senic parkway had some gravel on the Helen end...other than that it was good. Rode hwy way 173 into Clevland for the first time this weekend, its a very pretty rd to ride, a lot of good scenery to see. Didnt get onto warwoman rd this trip, but a few people said it was in good shape. Hwy 28 from Clayton up through Highlands is got scattered gravel on it.
The wild life is out...had 2 deerr run out in front of me on Hwy 60 between Morganton, and Suches at 730 pm. And had a Coyote run out in front of me while clipping along hwy 64 @90mph about 400 pm. Between Franklin and Murphy....that about covers it fellas....good weekend over all...and got me really pumped about DGVI....lets ride....Jim

What do you ride? I was there all weekend on a black/blue 02. I saw a 02 possibly 03 black one today at the Overlook and a silver (slow model) 2000.

I have a all black 02....it was black and gold.....was up there yesterday....late in the afternoon, werent many people up there at the time....what roads did ya get to hit, and what kind of shape were they in....I was riding slow in the afternnon, cause it was pouring down rain....and I am not trusting the Pilots in the rain....I think I am going to try the metzlers, and if I dont like them, I am gonna stick with the 208's...they are still the best tire I have run on the bike yet.....

lmao....I am not gonna make it up there until the 17th... 
Yeah it was raining up there pretty regular, but it wasnt so heavy you couldnt ride most of the time, but it is one way to keep your speed down...hard to get a speeding ticket in the rain....unless you got NO sense....lol

We stayed on the Dragon. It was in great shape until late Sunday when it started raining hard. After the rain there was a lot of crap on the road. I got some very nice footage running the dragon wet. The camera was pointing to the rear, water flying, squiggle tracks from the back end breaking loose. Fun stuff.
The Black 02 I saw was probably around 1:30 (give or take) at the Overlook. If you saw me you would probably remember. I had yellow anntennae on my helmet...

lmao...nope, I didnt see any yellow antenae......yeah we got up there late...we had just come off Wyah rd, and headed up over the Dragon and back.....comming back was really slow cause of the rain, then we hit the cherohola....got about 15 miles in to the cherohola, and it poured so we turned around....then hit 129 back down to TWO.....was a good day over all...505 miles of great roads....

been checking the Dragon site, and so far it looks pretty good as far as road conditions, and cops.....not a lot of either.....if the weather holds out and doesnt wash a lot of gravel we should be golden.....got the new tires today..for both bikes....and I am still working with Kawasaki on getting this shock replaced...its looking good, talked to Kawi today, they said no problem, now the dealer is involved, got to let them get the official go ahead to order the parts and I should be golden...then if the new chain and sprockets come in for the 6R I will be ready...for the track in September, adn for the gap....ZIXER is sitting in the garage waiting...running like a champ and waiting....gonna have to take her out and put some miles on her to keep her happy....

yeh i'll give it a quick look this weekend ;P
where is the cabin exactly, i may be up there sunday afternoon just to drop in and taunt the poor saps as they arrive for the semi-annual butt-fest....
how was wayah road? i haven't been on that one since may.
shame foothills parkway is closed.
but you can ride most of it, from deal's gap.
the road on other side of the river from the entrance to foothills parkway that is closed (on 129 side) meets up with foothills up near that ranger station.
it's a decent little road, but nothing high speed. too many houses. if one of the people sunday is up to it i'll drag them up that road to show them the way. it'll be on my way home, but still, at least one of you will know where the thing is at and can spread the wealth ;p
just keep bart off the foothills ok? we don't need another crash for him......

wyah was pretty good, some gravel in a few of the corners....but for the most part it was in pretty good shape....
I know Outlaw...i was looking forword to the parkway....I havent rode it yet....I always ride south of Deals, mostly in the GA side....all around TWO....there are some great roads up there...
One of these trips we need to move down to TWO, and get a freash bunch of roads to you all.....I can tour guide down there lots better....

this coming sunday, or next, depends on how i feel and howmuch work i can get done on the track bike
(need it for talladega on the 18/19 of october)
if i can get it running saturday (this coming) i'll be out there sunday (14th)
