Well, the AMA has done it again...

Have you guys seen the new rules for superbikes for 2004?
The AMA is so fucked up.
They should just get the hell out of racing and let an organization that has a clue take over.

They limited the size of the throttle bodies to stock ( original) for the four cyl machines and still allow the twins to use larger than stock one's. I guess they just want roadracing to be compromised of big loud twins.

The twins can also use ama approved aftermarket airboxes. NOT the four cyl's.

Do not laugh! In the late 70's and early 80's when I raced, the size was limited to 31 mm! I still have a set of tapered bored EI Blue Magnum Carbs That were 36 mm for my 1015 Kawasaki! Side note, when one of the tech inspectors was using the tool to check these in Kenny Roberts bike, they either kinked the cable or knocked it out of the slide and it cost him the race because the bike never ran right!

Of course you realize the manufacturers will jump right on this game and just increase the size of the stock throttle bodies and possibly modify the airbox on the 04 " stock production" bikes for sale..............

That is unless there is a "numerical" size limitation.

What about the equivalent of an "exup" valve in the intake? (inpv?) I think there's some FI system that does this, based on UCU maps... I think it was on a bike too - maybe a Ducati, can't remember.
That's shut the fuckers up - too complicated.

to let the slower, inferior machines keep up with the fast bikes and riders.

Kinda how they fixed that Buster Douglas / Mike Tyson fight back in the day. People got tired of paying $16,000 for front row tickets to a fight where they KNEW who was going to win.

Yes it's gay.
