ZX12R Top Speed?
This has been probably discussed to death but bare with me. I understand there is a Gentleman's agreement with a 300kph/184mph limit but I was just wondering what the rpm's are on a stock 2002 ZX12R with stock gearing at 184mph? My ZX12R has -1 in the front and due to a certain situation with the oil light right now I'm not able to take it up it's top speed(yellow box rules ) but I was also wondering what the top speed is with the -1 in the front and at what rpms?

Stock unrestricted in perfect conditions and a good rider would achieve a theoretical mid 190s.
down one in the front should hit redline somewhere around the 184 limit.
down 1 up 2 tops out around 175

Room to go where Bart??
18 x 45 gearing, best I saw lately was 185 in 100% humdity. 18x46 is ideal on a stock motor.

What about the restricter? Is that a myth or is it removeable?
(dumb question)-Where is it? Is it electronic or is it in the gearbox?

fact - I went 192.5 on a stock bike 18/46 (w/Muzzys pipe) @ maxton 167hp
fact - On the dyno 194 bangs the limiter using stock gearing
fact - 100% stock '01 stock pipe w/catalyst 18/46 went 182mph @ maxton

I thought that in theory, given no clutch slippage or rear tire spin, the stock 2000 ZX-12 is geared for slightly over 200 mph at redline. Can't remember the exact numbers for sure. (Yes, I know, there is a difference between theory and practical top speeds).

How about this quote from a Busa owner when I tried to explain his bike wouldnt hit 185 mph:
quote: .. I know this bike will do 210mph... I geared it down with one less tooth on the front. Heck, I did 190 coming here on the highway..

I went 195.8 out here in the desert back in May of 2001. This was verified by GPS and Cycle Worlds Radar gun. Paul Dean came out and gave me a hand.
00' Model,Stock gearing, pipe, map, no mirrors and Brand New 010 Tires. Tire diameter makes a significant difference. If your tire is half worn, you loose dia.-loose speed.

Well, I was wondering if there was any truth to the fact that some of the 2000 models are considered proto types that were unrestricted and much faster than otehr 2000 models...... I have heard of a lot of pissed off kawasaki owners that feel they were mislead thinking they were getting one of these proto types and didn't get one.... and Does any one know anything about this? I own a 2000 and I am not interested in going faster than 175 That shit is scary.... but the bastard is still excelerating and pulling the shit out of me at 175....... It have engine work done to it with the full muzzy exhaust system...

The most that I saw on my speedo was 190 mph. It was still pulling hard though. Hopefully, I'll get another chance to try and break that before the end of the summer.

"proto type" talk is just grumblings of those who can't twist the "loud handle". There is no such thing as a "proto type" version of the A1 model that was ever available to the global market

The most relieable # that I've seen since the 12 came out is the numbers that Muzzy got when they did their run with the East Coast Timing Association present.
That run was done on a short runway too.
