Harry, I took my rear tire offlast night. I noticed that the LEFT side is a 'sealed' style fitting. All I see is a red rubber seal covering the bearings.
On the RIGHT side however, I see the same race that you showed as destroyed in your pictires. The ball bearings are clearly seen when the spacer is off.
There was grease in there, but I took a few globs of grease on my finger and layed it in there. I thought it odd that the bearing are so easily exposed on the right side to sand, salt, water, etc.
Dealer says it is not specified as a 'service' item.
Do you remove / repack the bearings every, say 10,000 miles? Need special tools? Just wait for a failure?

Thanks Richard. I put some grease in my spare wheel that I replaced the smoke checked wheel with. I should get the bearings any day now. My 3 M-1 sporttech's came in today and I ordered the bearings the same day.
