Thee Pass

These were taken by swft by his digital camera. The original size was 3100 X 2200 pixels.

This is much better than the previous memory I have of Necro in the BusStop at PR. I can distinctly remember him laying there and groaning, until Mike Velasco reached down and tugged some hairs loose, provoking a suprised yelp from Necro. At which point, Mike stood up and said 'He's ok. If he can feel that, he's not hurt."

swft - next time you talk to MV, tell him I said hi! I knew Mike before he became somebody and actually rode motorcycles pretty fast. First time I saw and raced with him was at Ontario. Has to be going on 25 years ago. Have not seen him in a while, but he still has hero status with me for his tuning expertise.

What track is that,Portland? necro, nice pass, but flick that shit in there! You trying to make friends? This ain't no dance. Just kiddin, nice pics.

Thanks Dark Lord. I was running dunlop's 207's. I am now running Pirelli's.

The gearing I believe is 43 in the back. I finally hit the rev limiter at turn one last weekend. That equated to 145.5 mph.

I am running the Pirellis now too...love them, gonna try the H2's....but its all mute until I rebuild the rear shock. It is bucking around the track pretty bad, the shock lost its charge and has no rebound dampening. I think I am gonna go up 2 teeth on the back, I am only getting about 11,200 before I have to shut down for turn 1. I should be getting 12500 or so out of it. Gonna start with 2 teeth, and if that dont work I will go up another one. that aught to get me about 145 at the end of the straight, instead of the 138 I am getting now. And it will be better for some of the turns on the track....have to run down one gear in some of the corners, cause the right gear the bike doesnt have the power....oh well thanks for the info...will elt ya know how it turns out...

I changed my body postion after I saw those pictures. I sit much lower at that turn. I actually touch my knee on that corner now.

Also instead of sitting up like in the last picture, I slide over the tank underneath the screen right away.

i try to stay as low and tirght to the bike as I can...in the real tight corners I am almost sitting on my heel, with the ball of my foot on the peg.....will work I guess until I get low enough to drag a toe, then I am gonna have to rethink that postiion.

Here's a recommendation.

I found that when you're going around a corner, the ball of the outside foot should not be on the peg. If the heel is on the peg, it allows the knee to wedge against the forming in the tank. This in turn (along with resting your outside arm on the tank) allows you to relax your grip on the handle bar.

It's amzing the change in my front tire wear before and after I started doing that. The front used to be shreaded. Now it's nice and smooth all the way to the edge.

I do ride with the top side arm relaxed resting on my knee or on the tank....pending on the angle. but I use the balls of both feet on the peg...will have to give that a try next time out. I am getting really good wear out of the front, its the back that i am shreadding......When I am laid over I try to put the top side thigh on the seat, and hook the top knee on the tank. I am long legged so tha tputs my elbow on my knee or the edge of the tank....will try the foot postition, and let ya know how it worked out...wont be back out to the track until the end of sept.....
