Yes. I try and do it around 60 mph.

However, I am not the best wheelie guy.

Try regearing to a 17tooth front. It will make the 2nd and 3rd gear wheelies easier to ride.

I have a 03 and it wheelies 1st ,2nd and (3rd alittle) without the clutch
I can bring it all the way up in 2nd, 3rd about a foot.I am taking it easy though last year I was riding one and fucked it up and broke my collar bone
I couldn't ride for 2 months.

Wheelies eh?????

Not that I'd ever do one, or encourage anyone too here's my advice.

2nd gear - Level off your rpms @ around 4.5 - 5k, lay your index finger ONLY over the clutch lever and fan the clutch to bring it up. Once the bike is up just modulate the throttle and ride it out.

You can also power wheelie in 2nd by running your rpms up a bit higher (experiment), level the bike off, then nail the gas to bring it up. Then just modulate the throttle.

TIP: You can also do a power wheelie using less rpms if you give the bars a good stiff tug and nail the throttle simultaniously. Always start out easy on any of this. Don't fuckin' loop out, just practice.

ALWAYS cover the rear brake when doing this, that's an order.

3rd gear: See me after you've mastered 2nd gear. I ride very few 3rd gear wheelies on the 12, but they are exciting.BTW - a steering damper of some sorts is nice to have if you like the one-wheeled hooliganism, I highly advise you to get one.

Must be, cause it ain't never power wheelied in 3rd. Nor has any other 12 I've ridden. I've ridden 6 12Rs 4-'00 models, and 2 - '02 models, all piped too, and no 3rd gear power wheelies. Maybe it's because I'm a fat motherfucker.

The best way to "freeway" wheelie the 12.........Run @ 70+ mph in 2nd gear, this will put your rpm's at about 8,000. See, the tachs on the 12's run 600-800 rpm optimistic. This puts your engine right in the torque peak at about 7,200-7,400 rpm's. Now just close and snap the throttle wide open. Do this all in one quick motion. As you snap it open, you should be sitting upright and give the bars a nice tug. It will float up slow at first, then rise fast as the rpm's climb past 8,500 or so. At this point be ready to modulate the throttle to hold the HIGH balance point! Happy Hooliganisim!!

Ninjaman12r offers good advice. I'd only add that you remember she's an awful big load on two wheels, let alone one. She can get away from you quickly.

3rd gear power wheelies; no.

I agree with Ninjamans advice about a steering dampner as I am having to replace all my plastic from a tankslapper gone bad. I don't know if you like standing up to ride a wheelie but that seems more comfortable to me and requires no clutching just gas and pull. Be careful and take it slow!!

I don't know why we need steering dampers. Do you ride the bike like you're on a race track or what?

Trust me, if you ride the 12 hard enough you'll come to realize it needs a damper. Especially if you're haulin' over uneven sections of road, not to mention sitting the front wheel down at well over 100mph. Tankslappers are NOT good.

Steering Damper is top of my list of must haves, and I dont ride wheelies.....but I ride it like its on the track....especially when its on the track.....it gets a wobble, at very high speeds....like 150+

I've had a tank slapper just running up through the gears from first to second. I would get an occasional headshake here and there - but after I went down a tooth on the counter sproket I realized I really needed one.

And yeah - I don't do many wheelies but after that tank slapper incident I ordered mine.

I wasn't so bad with stock gearing - as long as the suspension was set up right. That's a key most people forget.

gonna have my suspension set up tomorrow and get the bike ready...Ordered and extra set of tires for both bikes today...plus I picked up a set of race take offs for spares.....Ordered the Metzler M-1 for the 12 with a 190 for the back....and picked up a set of H2's for her bike with a 180. If need be I will run into town and have them spoon on the H2 onto the 12..then ya'll can kiss my balls...if you can catch them that is....:P

The secret to good stability on the 00-01 12's is in the chassis set up. Choice of tire is first and foremost, Donelaps are poor, 010's are GOOD and H2's are awesome!(dry roads only!).
Chassis set up is equally important.....I have not required a dampner even after 196mph runs, freeway wheelies at speeds up to 130+ and Trackdays.

The only time I have experienced any instability from the 12 is when I was experimenting w/ rear ride hight and overall attitude (net Rake) of chassis
The 12 does not like to be on it's nose too much!!

Never had a problem in a straight line. But all you need to do is get into one lock to lock tankslapper when sliding out of a corner or hitting some uneven pavement flicking the beast around and you will believe in steering dampers...

I have never had a problem with it either. I push it sometimes. Not as much as the 6 on the track of course, but I still push it more than a lot of people.

i push mine alot too, but its only gonna take that one time, and you will be sold on a damper.....I am sold, just waiting to find the right one...I would like a ratory style damper...like the Scotts...but they dont make a kit for the 02 and newer 12's.....
