Rode my first Hayabusa yesterday

I liked it.The Busa has good low end torque and the gearbox seemed smoother.I would need helibars on it and maybe a riser plate. I've sat on another busa that had these mods nd it felt very comfortable.I rode it quite awhile and although I prefer the ZX-12,I would like to have a Busa Too.Especially a Turbo Busa.
We did several rollons and ran it through the gears and it was a tie as whoever got the jump first ended up slightly ahead (sometimes me,sometimes him)I am about 30 lbs heavier.
We rode with a GSXR 1000,Honda 929 and a 600 Can-o-Tuna.Probably about 100 miles total. It did rain on us some but I still had a great time.
For all the north folks - I think of you guys every time I'm riding just lately especially KZZ1 and ZX-12 girl!!!

Hey Harry

My brother has a Busa. While at the fall Deals Gap ride, we traded bikes for about 20 miles. The more I rode the busa, the more I liked my ZX-12. The best thing about riding the Busa was looking in the rear view mirror at my bike.

That was fun, Shawn liked your 12 and considering your one down on the front only and he's 3 up and 30 lbs lighter we know which one is quicker (sorry Shawn) Too bad the roads were so wet and the off and on rain I never felt comfortable. You do some some awesome wheelies on that 12! Won't be able to make it this Saturday but we need to go the route first planned again in the coming weeks. I love that road! long and straight florida real estate. My little 1k is no match top end but is fun little machine and besides gotta shut up Paul he was just more comfortable on them wet roads them me but he's fun to screw with! Ahh a turbo busa? now that would be the bomb especially on that long straight road.

I have both a Hayabusa and a ZX12R bothy full power models. Although the busa has more low down torque I much prefer the 12. Top end performance is better so is riding position as far as I am concerned Ive done 14000 miles on the busa and 8000 on the 12 this last year. i also have a vmax which doesnt get used much now. I'm 53 and my wife usually comes along.

My friend has a busa and I ride it once in awhile, it's a good bike with plenty of power but it's not the 12r and never will be. When it comes down to racing one it's all in the rider...............

Did you ride the GSXR 1000?

Or have you ridden one before? I rode one a few weeks ago. I'll let ya answer before I share my opinion on it.

Red I think I know where your going with the GSXR think. If I'm right your going to say its not comfortable, but its one hell of a bike. Personally after riding a Busa and owning a 12. I like the 12 better but Kawi better hurry up and bring the 10R out or else it will be a GSXR in the garage

No, I didn't get to ride the 1000. I was going to get to ride one when I was at TWO at the end of july but as I went off the side of the hill and broke my shoulder and bike,I didn't get to ride it.I know they handle great and have a lot of power, but I don't think I could ride one long with the ergonomics of the 1000.

Yep, its not to comfortable I have to take a goody powder before I leave for long ride and another when I get home! But I love the bike. Lowered in the rear 1" made a big differece, but my biggest complaint is the helmet buffeting. Next time i'm out to Jeff's which is about twice a month on average we can switch bikes. I'm sure you will find the 12 more to your liking but you will be amazed at the power the little 1k has any gear and any speed. If it's clear, I will bring the cam corder and get some on board video and other shots. Maybe I can get the guy with the 1270 from Jax(Carl) YCIS & Turboblew. That would be a blast 3 12's Jeff's 1k,mine a Busa or two oh can't leave off Paul and his 929. We (Carl) Shawn and I had a great time on some Georgia roads a few weeks ago.

This will surprise ya, BigJu!

A few weeks ago, I posted this at LA Busas after riding a friend's GSXR 1000...

I'm still in total awe of Busadan's Gixxer! I could easily get myself into some serious trouble on that thing! If not with the law, with my limited skills (probably end up in the trees on some curve).

Does it pull like a 12R? No way! That's one of it's major "drawbacks" (if you could really call it that). Because it doesn't pull like a 12R, not only did I not realize how fast I was going, I didn't have a clue on how fast it got to those speeds either!

A bike like that could make even someone like me look good. Would I get one? Not unless Tom (dealer - not brand loyal, ya know) started carrying Suzukis and we know that ain't gonna happen. I guess I'll just be stuck on waiting for the ZX10R to come out... and of course, having the money to get one!

Zturbo, who owns a Busa, a 12R AND a GSXR 1000 replied and commented about how he thought I'd be impressed with it's power and handling. This was my reply...

Ya know what I really like the most, Z? It had nuttin to do with power or accelleration. Nope, that was nice and all (maybe it's because a have a lil' more then 173 ponies in my 12R). Nope, that wasn't what got my rocks off the most.

It wasn't even the mind boggling lightness of the Gixxer, which was even nicer then the power. The aspect that I totally "spoozed" over was... the overall riding position. I was that aggressive, "over the tank", attack position.

It was nothing short of erotic.

I've been on the Gixxer 750 as well as the 9R. Both are nice as well. It's just that the 1K encompasses EVERYTHING I would want from a bike. Again, would I get one? Ain't gonna happen. I'm far too dealer (again... not brand) loyal and sadly, he doesn't carry 'zooks.

As I've said several times before, I just don't have the capital to own two bikes (my '89 KDX doesn't count) and I'm already spending a large portion of my meager income on the bike I got. Which, BTW, I'm very happy with.

It just boils down to the fact that I'll just have to wait for the ZX10R, pray KHI doesn't drop the ball and hope that I'm not upside down on my 12R's bank note. Odds are, if the 10R actually does come out in July, I'll probably have to wait till the next model year and get one then.

Until then, all I can do is thank 2wheeler for the ride.

So, do I think the Gixxer is uncomfortable? I don't know. It'd be like saying that "doing" Kathy Ireland on the kitchen table was uncomfortable. A bed might be a better place, but would that REALLY keep you from "doing" her? I've never claimed to have "green blood" or am I loyal to ANY one brand of bike. Like I said, for me, the GSXR 1000 is everything I'd want from a motorcycle. Sadly, my dealer doesn't sell them and though I'm not brand loyal, I AM dealer loyal. Thus I'll have to wait for the ZX10R.

One of my personal bikes is a 2000 Busa,I like it BUT when i first got to ride a custormers ZX12r.........well I decided i liked it a little better.Lighter feeling, more nimble very good top end rush. The only thing i could tell was the 12 had a little less low end grunt,we all know this, but with a kit in one.....you guys know what would happen. I have ridden the Gsxr1000 let me say it is awesome!!! The bike has wild power and is very close to handling like a R1(i think the R1 is the best handling bike i have EVER rode)I agree the 1000 will flat MAKE you get yourself into some trouble!!!! I just wish the 1000 had a removeable cylinder block.

A couple weeks ago I met up with a guy on a '99 busa totally stock (to the eye) and me with my '00 12R with a muzzy and PCIIIR. we did a lot of "drop a gear and pass the car" little races and I always passed him and pulled ahead. Then at the end of our ride we got a chance to do a roll-on from 2nd gear (around 7 grand for me) and it was dead even till 3rd, then he pulled ahead 1/2 bike length and then 4th I cought back up right beside him. He backed off at around 160 because he was on the shoulder side of the road and there was a jogger that didin't seem to care that we were going to buzz him at 160+! That would of been pretty cool to of been in his shoes, he even gave us a thumbs up....or at least I think it was a thumb! Anyway..from what I hear, '99 is a fast year for the busa and him at 180lbs and me pushing 375lbs, I was impressed by the busa but also impressed that team fat ass was pretty much dead even up to where he shut it down. After that we took em into the best twisties I could find around here and it wasn't even much of a challenge, the 12 showed it's great skill in the corners! Anyway, I guess I am trying to say that the busa is a very fast bike (especially down low power) but the 12 is a great all around fast bike with a very good cornering ability. I guess that is what I felt after riding both.

Alright!!! Go Team fat Ass!!! Kinda partial to that team me being a member and all! Man Red, I have never seen the 1K in action, none of my friends have one. But I know a guy who rides on a pro circut who races an R1 and an R6. This summer he was riding a 1K on the street. His opinion was the 1K was faster than the R1 easily, but the R1 handled better. He went on to say that he can turn faster laps on an R1. But this same guy tried to get me to come up to wisconsin to do laps on the track on my 12. I think they were at Elkhart Lake. I like the 1K a bunch but I want to see how strong Kawi comes back. Never liked the R1 to much either a 10R or a 1K. I got more into the corner thing this summer and I now realize the actual weight of the 12.

Hey bigju, since we are both part of team "fat ass" and it sounds like you love the twisties like I do, you should make a trip into westerm wisconsin this comming summer! I am in the Minneapolis area but I am only about 45 minutes west of some great twisties! I hooked up with a sportbike group this last summer and they lead me on some awesome roads (for around the Midwest) and I have been waiting to show some others on here from the midwest these Great roads! Are there any good twisties in the Chicago area? Let me know what you think!

All we have here is lake shore drive, but it's so short and usually has a lot of traffic. We have plenty of flat straights, wisconsin sounds cool I have to get Bart and Brian and the rest of barts crew. Those guys are riders! I think my Team Fat Ass handle can be "Hey Beer Man"
