Visions of Greatness

I was just listening to a young squid at a local shop telling the parts counter guy how his 600 "wheelies in 4th" and he "drags the bodywork in all the corners". I joined in and asked if he ever rides Ortega with "all those nutso race guys". He says he the fastest guy up there. I told him maybe we could go riding sometime and he could show me a thing or two. He said sure, I'm up there every Saturday and Sunday (never seen him up there..). By then, the parts guy is cracking up (he's a friend) and tells the poor kid to not get sucked into what I'm doing. I couldn't keep a straight face anymore, so I left without even turning around to look at him. Hey!, honest, he started it! I looked over his bike in the parking lot on my way out (older model FZR600) and the rear tire was down to the wear indicators in the center, and he's got almost a 1/2" of completely unused tire on both edges!

The moral of the story is that we all bench race. You just have to be careful about who might actually be paying attention and listening to you.... But hey, everybody's got to have a dream to shoot for and someday he may very well be the fastest guy around. After a long day at work, it was a pretty good belly laugh to come home to and share with you guys.

come on now... dont be mean to those poor little squids! Next time just refer them to this website:

www.bcsportbikes.com

There he can spend his many days and nights surrounded by riders perhaps even (dare I say) more squidlier than him!

I did get my kicks passing the bcsb'ers on the 99 Sea to Sky whilst on the DR650... nothing like being fully leaned over on a dualsport and passing some nervous squids on their R1's and GSXR 1000's as there gingerly tip toe through corners...

Now I must admit that it's no prob doing this on the 12 but when they cant keep up to a stinkin lil 650 single ya know there's a problem here!
