When did you first drag a body part?
I was talking to GOZR about Alice's resturant and the hills around it. Thought I'd start a separate post for you fast guys who like to go around corners.
First place I drug a body part (toe, 1974 Norton Commando). First place I drug a knee, 1977 on a Z1B with Michelin M45 front, Dunlop KR91 rear. Man that's when the revolution started. Where are my brothers from that era!!???
Ok, open challange! Anyone drag a knee before that (on the street)???? Crashes don't count!

Ah, ok. Hmm...First time was '73 Suzuki GT250. Drug my toes when I went over a fire road and my foot came off the peg.

Ok closer. But actually removing contact of the entire foot off the peg DQ's you. But hey, nice save for an offroad excursion!

Two summers ago during a trip to Lagunna Seca, on a wild road down the mountain to Ft. Bragg. I began trusting my bike to do what it was made for, and the next think I knew, I was dragging my feet on both sides. That's when I learned the importance of keeping my toes on the foot pegs.

Drug a toe on hwy 60 north of Suches last year on the 12, and drug a footpeg on the 600 the next day in the same area.....Oh and I drug 1 of the Kerker pipes on my 75 CB750 back when I was a kid.....but that was scary....almost dropped it....almost......

Many years ago on my 1990 ZX-11. Just my toe, but scared the hell outta me. I still have trouble remembering to keep my feet tucked in when the going gets crazy on the track. I even had a special pair of pegs made to help keep my toes on the pegs.

Two years ago on a little 600cc Bandit. Drug toes couple of times, then got to where I drug pegs all the time.
Then got Gixxer 600. Drug knee first time at Hallett Raceway in Tulsa OK, last year.
I was reborn.
Drag toes if I get lazy on the 12R humping it.

1st time was 5 years ago on my CBR1000. Dragged a toe on a right hand on ramp. It bacame routine on that bike after that. On the 12R, I dragged my left toe the first time I rode the bike in anger. It was a definite "Oh Shit" moment cause I had completely underestimated the bikes speed and the turn's radius. It's ok cause I had an extra .25 inches of pavement to my right when all was said and done.
Since I'm kind of a bone head, I repeated the incident the following week on a different road.

Dave, Don't make me dig out the pics of me draggin my duct-taped knees at Sears Point (Infineon) on my Yosh/Z1/Duhamel replica. It shows my fu-man-chu and fro stickin out all over the place. Knee Sliders? We didn't need no stinkin nambe pambe knee sliders! Just slap some silver duct on and stick that focker into the pavement.
A few months ago, I actually threw on a set of 2 piece black leathers with the knees duct taped and a different helmet on Ortega. Was riding a new Z1000 and wanted the full old school look. Lot of squids were pointing and laughing at the Lookout. But when we went for our little "speed" sessions. They got the spanking they deserved. Don't mess with the old school, unless you got the sack to back your smack! When we got back up to the Lookout to bullshit, I noticed nothing but "virgin" knee sliders, while I was thru the duct tape and into the leather. Humble pie was served to all. All in good fun.

Yes, DIG THEM OUT! I'm having trouble finding my one pic of you so I need more! I even got pics of the King I took at Sears & Laguna... 
Oh, here's another of me on a KZ-J @ T11 SP in 81'. Do you remember the springs/concrete patches I'm on top of in this pic? Trying to keep the pipes off the ground as usual....can't see the duct tape tho...I used about 23-30 layers seemed about right.
Good job on the folks at the lookout. They know not who they messin' with!!!

Oh yes. I remember the springs & creeks & concrete patches very well. We were men to ride Sears Point like that. Hell, it was more like a moto track compared to the pool table surface the guys race on today.
Remember the Saturday open practice days when we shared the track with the Race cars? TransAm, Formula 2000, CanAM, all of us on the track at the same time! No sessions. "Open" practice! That'll grow hair on your nut sack! Nothing says rubbin like slamming an elbow into a race car at speed! Get off my line Focker!!!!

Oh yeah, but man the price = $25 for the WHOLE day of open practice. Seems the fast bikes ran ~the IMSA Vett's speed just fine, but when them Formula Atlantic cars start diving inside....YIKES! I'll never forget going into seven & hearing someone inside, looking inside & seeing a nose cone & two HUGE slicks pushing me wide inches away....whoa!
Now SP is a go-kart track...they ruined the front straight & nine....sniff.

First time when it became a problem was on the track, I've got big feet and can only wear MX boots - on a NC30 with 2" pegs (OK, exaggeration) , your foot hits down early! I had HOLES on both boots by the end of the day, and that was trying not to.... they were friggin expensive boots.
Never was any good at getting my knee down, even on small sports stuff, with the pegs touching down, guess I just never got the technique. I've taken the velcro off of my leathers now, my knees are pretty safe I reckon...
