ZX6R (636) Top Speed

Anyone know the measured top speed of an '03 636 in production 100% stock form (stock exhaust)?

cool, just wondering... guess that would be a contender for the 650cc production class record at Maxton then for sure

I had a mag with the shootout and I'm pretty sure it's 160mph, plus or minus a couple MPH. I've looked for the mag and can't find it. One of my deadbeat buddies must have "borrowed" it.

Bergie,
The test I read said 159 for the 636, do you think it can reach it's top speed at Maxton?
A friend just installed the race kit for his new RR, it consisted of cams/springs and a thinner head gasket. He said the head was pitiful and cleaned it up some.
The bike went from 103 to 110 hp, not much gain as expected anywhere but the top. Just wondering how the kit would respond in a 636?
You gonna make the October meet?

ZX636 158.5 according to the radar at Cycle World
R6 158.1
CbR600RR 162
GSXR600 158.5

If I remember those correctly...had lots of time to read magazines in the desert...over and over and over....lol

Whatever....all the squidies on 600s around here do 175 easy with "plenty more in it"

Of course this is with their girlfriends riding on the back...and not tucking...Id have to say a 636 could hit 200 easy.

If you only knew how many times I've heard that line verbatim. I used to try and correct the guys, but now I figure what's the use. I just let 'em go on and wring their little 600s neck and give them a good lead, then let lil' red stretch her legs and take the paint off the lil' 6s when I fly by. Nothing like a little real world edumucashun. A guy here at work (rides a CBR600RR)that runs 180 , that's impressive enough. BUT, he's got a riding partner that has an R1 w/pipe, K&Ns. Care to guess what the R1 will run topped out??? According to Chase, she'll do a very respectable 226mph. He gets very pissed when I laugh at him for even believing, much less shoveling, such horseshit.

Steve had a guy on a Stock GSXR750 that with his "TRE" would do 215mph.

Dan, yes I will be at both the fall ECTA events (hopefully) that is the plan anyway. Yeah 159 is a long way from the production class records which tip in the 170s if I recall correctly. Thanks for the info!

Those little 1000s be some bad little bikes, and will suprise you if there is a good jockey at the controls. That being said I put the smackdown on one from a roll last year. Guy was 100+ pounds lighter than me at the time. His bike had a Micron system, tre, stacks,PC3, and filters. He hung with me until about 160 which impressed me, but that is where me and Lil' Red started pulling off. He watched me put quite a bit of distance on him and decided to shut it down.

He was a little pissed because his buddies were ripping on him pretty bad. Combine that with the fact that the first time I met the guy he wanted to race my 12R. I declined because I didn't really figure it was worth wasting gas over, and I didn't know if he could ride worth a shit either. He took it that I was scared and blatantly said that. I told him in a way that only those who have met me can attest to, that I was more scared of his breath than his bike. The guy had, and has a major chip on his shoulder. Our race was actually a 3 bike race, my '00 12R, Don's '02 , and Gary on the 1k. Don's '02 was stock and he got crucified, but it was a good race between Gary and I until about 160 mph. According to Don, his face still turns red when he mentions the fact that a fat MF on Kawasaki put the fuckin' smackdown on him.

Even though I beat Gary, I don't underestimate those little bikes. They're wicked, and handle like a dream. Possibly my next bike if the 10R flops.

I know they are Ninja....but I am confident in my abilities to ride the 12. And he is gonna have to be dam good to make up the difference between his stock bike, and my baby. I may lose...but he is gonna earn it.....

Sorry here is the correct 650cc production class record:

P/P-650/4 Coby Adams Performance rider Chip Ellis Oct-99 173.477 MPH [/v]

MPS 650cc records:
MPS/G-650/4 Fish's Customs D. Hutto Jul-00 163.339
MPS/F-650/4 Team Kawasaki Chip Ellis Jun-00 177.515

APS 650cc records:
APS/G-650/4 Team Kawasaki Ryan Schnitz May-01 171.103
APS/F-650/4 Fish's Customs R. Bush May-01 157.343

Obviously the production class record is the most desirable. I think the APS/F(uel) could be broken on a new ZX6R with fuel no problem. The others are pretty far out of reach for a production based bike.

The reason I was asking is I'm looking at borrowing a showroom 636 for one of the fall meets
