Our Tribute to Zhool
This past Saturday (July 26) some of us Arkies managed to get together on a large statewide motorcycle run. First time we've ever been able to do that.
I guess I kind of stirred the pot on getting that done as we had about 20 or so riders from all over Arkansas meet at this little restaruant in the middle of almost freakin' nowhere.
But at 1 pm Elk and I paused for Z and spoke to him on our way up to meet the other sportbikers.
During our ride Elk and I exchanged his picture - we had Z riding with us all day long.
I had him in my pocket as I blistered up our favorite twisty road flogging the piss out of my 12. Z would have smiled, I think.
Our ride was safe with only a minor mishap. Elk wound up getting another speeding warning from Arkansas' Finest. Z would have smiled at that, too, I think.
He says that's Z prodding him saying, "I'll let you off this time - but you better make a donation to the Injured Riders Fund!" And we both think he said that with a smile.
Godspeed, Z. You will be with us on every ride. Your picture is in my garage watching over me to make sure I do it right - I can see you smiling as I wrench.

That was the 30th time I have been pulled over... still a clean driving record!

Fish_Antlers mentioned to Don's wife Nikki that there were several different groups that were going to honor his memory with a ride.
Fish_Antlers told her that RedElk would be doing a ride in Arkansas with a group of riders, and bringing the photo of Don from the website with him.
That the ride was going to pause at 11:00 to remember Don.
This made Nikki smile (with tears in her eyes).
Thanks to all that talked to Fish_Antlers about how you were going to take some time out of your day on Sat. to pay tribute to the life of Zhooligan. It was a privledge to be able to pass those messages along to his wife.
After talking to Nikki, I realise that she knows how important everyone at this site was to Don. We talked about how being a moderator, winning the bikeland election, was something Don really, really wanted.
To those of you who want to tell his family about how their loss has affected you. Please take Swft up on the offer of forwarding any cards to them.
Thanks.

That's true. I wanted to call him earlier today to tell him something. It's always a rude awakening.
