front brakes
My brakes seem like they have a lot of mush in them even from the factory.I tried steel braided lines and bled all the air out, but still come close to hitting the knuckles sometimes.I checked the bikes at the dealer and they all need a long pull, any remedies?

Pads okay? Stock? Worn? Right amount of fluid?
I have EBC race pads, SS lines and I certainly don't have that problem.

even the stock bikes are doing it in the dealership, why so much play?I too have EBC sintered pads and ss lines and didn't seem to notice a difference with new brake lines and the pads had an initial strong grab at first and then were no different than stock.I don't know how expensive aftermarket cylinders areor how to size them.Has anyone used a brake cylinder from another bike?

I hate mushy brakes. One thing you could try is to replace the SS braided lines with smaller lines. This will help the mushiness but will cause the lever to move farther.
Try different fluid.
My guess though is that there is still air in the oil. It doesn't take much air to change the bulk modulus of the oil (how much the oil can be compressed).

it was night and day when i went to ss lines. EBC pads (i think) also made a huge difference. but i do find that sometimes they are more mushy than others. i'v had occasions where they woudl bring me to an incredibly fast stop with hardly any movement of the lever, and other times it woudl hit knuckles like u experienced. usually the're hardest (which is how i like em) right out of the dealer. i'm sure temp (both brake and ambient) is a big factor too.

Once switching to SS lines...I cant even come close to touching the lever to the throttle like I used to with the rubber lines. You gotta still have some air left in there.
