Memorial for ZHooligan
I called the number listed at the bottom of Don's obit. It belongs to one of the officers of the Washington Motorcycle Road Racing Association. She was slightly taken aback by my inquiry about making a contribution to their injured riders fund. She was also surprised that her number was listed in the obit. Surprised, but very appreciative.
Fortunately, after speaking with their club treasurer, she was able to give me an address to where we could send our contributions, so please DO NOT call the number listed on the obit. Since they are preparing for a race this weekend and seeing as how this is all the information we need, there is no need to call the club secretary's home number.
I informed her that I would be posting it here and LA Busas. I would also appreciate someone posting it at Dale's site.
I feel that this is a far better way of showing our appreciation then sending flowers. I remember the seeing all the flowers at my brother's funeral and we gave them to the local childrens' hospital after the services. Though it was a nice gesture of the friends of my brother, it was very short lived.
Here's a chance for all of us to at least pay back a fraction of what Don has so unselfishly given to us. I will be sending a check for $100 and I request the members please try to give what ever they can. It doesn't matter if it is $5 or $500. All of us have either watched or raced ourselves and we all know how difficult it is for racers at our level to recover financially from injuries sustained while enjoying the sport we love so much.
Please send what ever amount you can to this address (check or money order):
WMRRA
c/o Injured Rider Fund
P.O. Box 94323
Seattle, WA 98124
Please note either in a enclosed letter or on the check that this is in memory of Don Blair.
Thank you,
Sherman "Red Elk" McCoy
