OFF TOPIC - friends 30th B-day question

Hey guys, sorry for the off topic post, but I'm stumped (again). This time I'm wondering what the heck to get one of my best buds for his 30th B-day. He is single, rides a zx-9r and just took up drumming about a year ago. I have no f-ing clue - and the worst part is, for my 30th, he got me a KICK ass present (30 year old bottle of scotch!!). I figure we got a lot of 30+ guys in here... what do I do!?!? Pit Bull stands maybe?!?!

If he'd into drums a set of heads would be nice. Extra drumsticks.

Or even a hooker.

Wait. That's for me.

I would be stoked to get Pit Bull stands. I play the drums too. Getting heads and drumsticks for a present doesn't do it especially if you get the wrong kind.

Wannabe, naturally sly discussions and a bit of recon would be in order for the drum heads - or actually for any gift to be sure you get the right stuff.

I think I'm going with the Pit Bull rear stand - I'd love to have it, and I know he doesn't have one . Not as creative as the 30 year old bottle of Scotch he got me for my 30th... but hey - this gift will last longer!

I try to pick up something that he would love to have but wouldn't buy for himself.

Who posted the "real men rules'? Was one of the rules was not to remember a buddy's birthday because if you did it was considered gay?

Get him a subscription to 'Superbike' magazine - that way he'll get a gift every month that he is 30 - and he'll think of how great you are everytime he is on the can.

Fly him up to Vancouver and let SassyV. give him a tour of Vancouver. Just don't expect Fish_antlers or me to show up - we are still recovering from the last SassyV. Party.

If he has a cartoon or comic that he has torn out of the paper - get it made into a t-shirt or mug - so he can take his humor with him. Mugs can also carry beer - so include that in the gift.

Go indoor skydiving in Vegas - safe yet moderately thrilling....

It is harder to be creative and come up with a really good idea. It is easier just to spend alot of money.

You could buy him a beer/wine making session - if you have a U-brew in the area.
Or if you want him to get hooked up, you could always get him a cooking class at the community center.

P.S.
Never underestimate the power of a good book.
Kurt Cobaine's (SP?) Journal has been released in hard cover. Although I can't remember how to spell his name I think he influenced alot of us 28-35 and I would think that would be a wicked read.
