03 ZX-12 mods
Have a friend who just purchased a new 03 ZX-12. He asked me for a list of mods I would reccomend without pulling the motor. I built my 12 in 2000 so some things have probably changed. The only thing he has ordered is a Akrapovic pipe.
Have the recent PC-3r's been more reliable than the early ones, and is 5 degrees advance still about right for the 03? He is also looking for a high quality fender eliminator kit with replacement turn signals, any reccomendations?

Sounds like you have him on the right track already...
Pipes, filters, PC, 17-tooth front sprocket...
I work on bikes every day and have NOT had problems with the PCs (considering how many I install/work on)...
I do know ONE person that had the "hard starting" problem with his 02 ZX12...he sent his PC back (while I was building him a 1361) and has NOT had a problem since they sent him a new one...
We also had a Hardley come in one time with a PC already on it (but unplugged)...owner said it wouldn't run right (after PAYING TWO OTHER SHOPS TO MAP IT)...I plugged it in...tried to load a map and the bike would not even idle (for long)...I clicked on the tab to see what the PC was and it said it was for a freeking SUZUKI!?!?!? Very VERY strange...especialy since it DID have the Hardley Harness-connector on it?!?!?!
ANYWAY...he sent it back...got a new one that has been working fine...
There are THOUSANDS of them out there...working fine...
John's is over 3-years old now...working FINE

Well, you can count me as two, then, if you think I'm a realible source. I think DJ has this thing all sorted out as the tech was able to tell me what was up on the phone when I talked to them.
Got my replacement and am happy so far. Been about a month.

Thanks for the replys. Is the timing advance still set at + 5 degrees on the 03 model for best results. I have not kept up with the websites in the last year or so and did not know if the 03 model with all the small changes Kawasaki made required anything different from my 00 model. If anyone knows who makes a high quality rear fender eliminator kit and smaller replacement turn signals please let me know. I noticed when I got back on the website that Hindle step headers are getting a lot of attention. Is this the current system of choice. My 00 1270 is still running the Muzzy ti system I installed after Muzzy first offered it. The bike now has over 12000 miles on the 1270 and it has been compleatly reliable. Still runs consistent low
9.30's at 152 to 154 MPH.

I run 4* just because I'm kind of conservative when it comes to "pushing stuff"...Mainly because I don't like to HAVE TO...PUSH MY STUFF
