bike runs fine a few days ago... I go into the garage..change the map... fire it up...back it out..its idling fine then all the sudden the bike becomes a twin
it sounds JUST like a TLR and its obviously missing on some cyls
Push it back into the garage....load the old map back in it...start it up...same issue I can see raw fuel just pouring out of the exhaust, turn it off....reset some things on the laptop...turn it back on starts idling rough...then begins to smooth out but its smoking ALOT then it begins to idle like normal..even revving up like normal...miss is gone but its blowin smoke like a champ
turn the bike off...and smoke continues to flow from the canister.
Im a bit frustrated at this point....I want to believe its the PC3 that just died..or whatnot...but its worked fine for so long...not one hint of trouble.
Im just pissed off and dont want to look at it right now for fear its NOT the PC3

ok...definately PC3 related.
Loaded a Zero map....and the bike runs fine. WTF????

Power Commanders do not fail. Obviously operator and or installer error. And yes I know now comes the testimonials, "I've never had a problem with mine, had it for years, came over on the May Flower with it......."

The bike (pipe) WILL continue to smoke until ALL the extra gas burns out...

yea..I took it out for a nice little "work the bugs out" ride...ran it up through 2 gears...bike runs fine...and the smoke has gone away....however this is still only with a Zero map.
Wasnt there some talk awahile ago about map corruption??

if the prob is with the pc3 disconnecting it will make fix the problem... try this first to confirm.... then if the prob does infact lie with the pc3 you need to check the wiring harness as there is a good chance it has been pinched and is shorting out as the is most likely the cause of the prob. (pc3's harness that is)

Yea..but all this started just from loading an older map. Bike ran fine...loaded older map....bike runs like ass....install map that was in it...bike still runs like crap...install zero map...bike runs fine.
Very bizarre.

a couple of weeks ago I loaded an old map, all looked fine, but it ran strangely. When I got it to the the dyno, the operator said "WTF... this is the strangest map, I've seen... 3's, 4's, 5's ..."
turns out that somehow I had loaded the ign map into the fuel???????
go figure

Im going to go fiddle with it again after work tonight....try creating a new map from the Zero map and loading that.
If it works im going to try to head to Gville tonight 630 - 11pm of racing action.

lol..dont sweat it....I really dont think its the PC3 thats bad....if it were...even putting in a zero map should have yielded similar results.
Im going to head home early to play with it....Im being optimistic

...that's kinda' what the tuner said about the map I had before he mapped mine yesterday with the Tuning Link...he said, "....35s and 34s all the way across...it was weird...I took it out...the Link made it correct..."
...I'm still in the dark with this thing...I haven't had much time to ride it since yesterday...hopefully tomorrow...I'd like to read the new map if I could...

Bri...I forgot to say last night...your colder plugs will foul MUCH faster with your rich condition also 
Kinda sounds like yer map got corrupted for some reason (don't ask me how/why)...
If you HAVE TO...put all your NO2-map #s into the zero map that runs OK (do it AT THE PC...not in the lap-top before you load it into the PC)...know what I mean???and see what that does...

Yep..that was the plan tonight.
Actually I was going to run on motor only tonight to see if the foam seat mod actually makes any difference.
Im going to recreate Jeffs old map...and my nitrous map from the Zero map and see if it likes it.
I have no doubt the plugs would get nasty quickly....thankfully I changed them out when I checked the valves last month....Id hope they will survive. Nothing a bottle or 10 of nitrous wont cure

Sad? Could care less. Just remeber Fish when someone has a running problem with their 12 the first words are almost always "unplug the Power Commander and see if it runs OK".

YCIS: I am still concerned with your story. I don't think that you have completely fixed the problem, yet. A corrupt map shouldn't cause just a couple of cylinders to die, so the fact that only a couple of cylinders died coupled with the fact that you loaded 2 separate older maps and neither of them fixed it makes me beleive that this wasn't a map problem (this time), and that loading the zero map fixing it was just a coincidence.
I would keep your eye on your harness, and definitely let me know if it happens again.

and what would that do? since he (freek) doesnt own one and tearnitup MAKES them how would your conversations or "theorizing" have any more weight than my discussions with the actual inventor/ designer?
why not sit down for a dinner and drink with tearnitup instead? then you'd get some REAL answers and clear up some of your misconceptions.

Yea..I was kinda scared about that myself.
However after about a dozen runs down the 1/4 last night.....it didnt miss a beat.
Still down on power (but its always been that way ever since i started tuning it for nitrous)....but it sounded/felt fine.
