I need help, please.....

After 1500 miles on my new 1361, I was stuck in traffic when my 12 started blowing black smoke and died. She refused to start, so I let her cool down. After 1/2 hour as I cranked her, she started firing sporatically, and finally fired up. I had to keep the revs up until the black smoke stopped. I put over 100 trouble free miles
on her after that, but my mileage was way down. The next morning, she repeated the same scenario when she died on the dyno, putting out 184 hp before reaching 9k rpms. Only this time, she refused to start after the cool down. Cycle barn opened her up and found the pin that holds the timing module in the cam laying in 3 pieces. That was over a month ago. Since then, the ECUs been swapped, and every other conceivable part w/o success. The engine cam timing
is nuts on, and my mechanic says the engine isn't the problem. but she insists on firing prematurely. Any ideas ? This is driving me nuts, I lay awake at night
worrying about it.
Thanks

Yeah, I used to have that problem. But I tried a little bit of numbing cream and - oh, wait. Wrong forum.

Never mind. I didn't type that.

Yes, the PCiiir is disconnected, and no, it doesn't have a mechanical advancer, but I was thinking along those same lines.

Thanks,

I could use the numbing creme for my brain?

Check the air sensor on the left side of the motor near TPS.

I've been wondering about the TPS myself. I'll pass it on.
Thanks for the help!

Way cool! You might want to consider a new set of plugs. On the other hand, it just might clean up after some riding.

I can smell the busa(s) on the barbeque!!

I was there when they found the p[roblem and we were all smiles when we hit the starter button and she fired instantaneously. We warmed it up rolled it on the dyno and made three pulls to clkear it out. First pull 200 hp on the nose with black smoke, second pull about 1/3 as much smoke and 202 hp and the third pull a slight haze (still rich with the safe break in map Velasco puts in them) and 206.6 hp on pump gas.

Sounded great Terry, I think you will be happy once it is mapped and ready to pick-up.

212 hp @ 123 ft/lbs torque

Mike just finished mapping my 1361. He raised the bar a bit, 212 hp @ 123 ft/lbs torque, unfreakin believable. Sorry, but I'm still wearing a smile, and know I'm going to have a hard time not bragging about it.
