Initial Assessment

Now her bark is as bad as her bite!!! Finally, 7050 miles and QuickSilver gets her first real mods. Initially I only slightly modified the exhaust by removing the cat and drilling some larger holes in the Peterbuilt canister and lowering the front end 1". This weekend she got the SS Muzzy with the polished Al can and Graphic Art Moto Design undertail, flush mount turn signals and Zero Gravity double bubble windscreen. This week we add the PC3R and 17 tooth front sprocket.

Took her out for my initial ride and she seemed to want to bite anything we ran across. It was tough but I didn't get any tickets. I'll say this about Muzzy, they make some nice pipes. I'll post pictures after I clean her up.

NO TICKETS!!!!!!!

BMW,
Don't get any tickets dude! I am having to really exercise some discipline that I've never had to use before. I hope like hell I can hang on until a couple tickets go off my record.

I bet you are pretty stoked about the mods on your bike. A full system really does wake the bike up eh? Good luck on your pc install.

You Got That Right!!!

The Muzzy is a real attention getter. Installed the 17 tooth sprocket and man did it awaken a sleeping monster. Man I lovin it!!! I got to short shift just to stay near legal. Now I see what all the fuss was about, my baby has been sleep walkin for 7000 miles. Now she's waking up and ready to play. I'm hoping I can get through the rest of the summer without a ticket but it's going to be tough thanks to Muzzy. I too hope the PC3R doesn't bite me like it has others.

Peace

Yep, I second that. I lost a bit much off the top end with the 17 tooth sproket so I'm going down one tooth as well on the rear sproket.

Not blowing past a Fizzer on a straight stretch convinced me I need a bit more up top.

But the full exhaust system and sproket really changed the bike. Not so much the PC3 and timing advancer. But I could still tell a difference.

I don't play much at the top end, 160-170 is about my limit and I get there in a hurry, too fast in fact. I haven't met a Fizzer I couldn't pass on a straight stretch of road, hope I never do!!!

Well, I didn't say I didn't pass him - I was used to blowing past him like he was standing still. I just slipped by. Pissed me off.

Whew!!! Thanks for that clarification!!! Had me a little concerned. The last Fizzer (03 R1) that antagonized me was a historic event when I hit 3rd gear.

Naw, not an R1, but an FZ1. R1 would have probably put up more of a fight. But not much.

Yeah, but what's the top end? It would really be humiliating to have a Fizzer buzz by at 150....

The 12 still does over 150 with a 16/46. And as ra12r said the guys are way behind trying to catch up! Iss it better to do 170 for two minutes or to take an extra minute to fo 180? Unless your at Bonneville the math usually says "look out there's a turn ahead" long before you can ring it out to 180 or more.

1"?

BlackMandingo,
You sure you dropped the forks by 1"? Sounds like a recipe for disaster...
Most bikes can benefit from a few millimetres of drop (the factories like to keep things "safe"), but an inch and the bike will be shaking it's head at every opportunity.....
If it works, tell us how........

1" doesn't produce any headshake, my 9R was lowered 1" also without any adverse steering. I also went to a 60 series front tire. What I have experienced is much quicker steering in the turns and the front end staying one the ground longer during hard accelerations, 1st & 2nd gears. It will still wheelie but they aren't as unpredictable. Bottom line, it works for me.

BTW, went to a dyno party tonite, dynoed QS (my bike), 172 rwhp with just the Muzzy and a 17 tooth sprocket. Still haven't installed the PC3R. An 03 12R with a D&D bolt on dynoed at 160; two Busas next, one with two high mount Devils (full system) and Yosh EMS at 164, the other had two Two Brothers slip-ons at 156. 02 R1 with ram air mod dynoed at 145, 01 Honda F4 CBR 600dynoed a 102, 03 GSXR 1000 with a Force Ti slip on at 154 and an 02 GSXR 1000 with a full Muzzy at 153. Each bike had 3 runs, the 03 12R had 4 and I'm quoting their best numbers. Each run was within 1-2 hp showing good repeatability on the dyno. Needless to say I am pretty happy with the results. With the bike lowered, it was the only one that needed extra assistance getting on the dyno!?!?
