Got a speeding ticket yesterday :-(
I knew it had to happen one day, and it did. Cop caught me taking a quick ride and gave me a ticket for 92 in a 45. I tried to talk him into just giving me a warning ticket but he said that I didn't deserve a warning.
He was really upset that I had the ol Yami wound up that hard on that curvy section of road. He said if it had been out on the straights he might have been a bit easier on me. Well I am gonna have my sister, she is a lawyer and so is her husband, call and talk to the judge and see if she can get them to drop the charges. She is real good at talking to people and changing their minds so I think she will be able to mabye get this ticket changed to a parking ticket or something like that.
Here is a picture of my sister and brother in law at their law office "fooling around" a bit!
If any of you guys need a good lawyer I will tell her to give you a good price.

Jake, you did not pass the attitude test. #2, when you know that they are going to give you a ticket, "Ask" them to reduce it to less that 30 Mph over the limit and you will appreciate it. Here, I was put in Jail for over 30 mph and he could have also! Know what the law is and can do then make requests with that in mind!

Here's how to deal with policemen when you are stopped, seems as how you are a very speedy man - you should be rather experienced by now in how not to get a ticket.
But, be that as it may, here's some tips for you:
1. Argue with the policeman about how fast you were going. Insist that you weren't going that slowly. You are a fast man, afterall. And no pussy would be going a lowly 92.
2. If he doesn't appear to be swayed by your assertions of what a great rider you are and there's no way you were going that slow, ask him if he knows who you are in a threatening manner. That will intimidate him and make him think that you are someone important.
3. If that doesn't work, assert very strongly that you know your rights because your sister is a lawyer.
4. Make a big deal out of getting his badge number to make sure he realizes just how much fucking trouble he's going to get if he does write you that ticket.
Just a couple of hints. I'm sure you'll need them because of all the fast riding you do taking folks to school.

jonwright is correct! The only thing he missed is #5. Get off the bike and kick the snot out of the officer to let him KNOW that you're the man. When the other officers show up to back-up the first officer, return to step one.

This work's for me when you get pulled over and the cop want to see your
proof of insurance tell him you don't have any most of the time they will just write you a ticket for that it's a $500 dollar fine and when you goto court show the judge your insurance card, dismissed.
also you forgot #4 1/2 who pay's your sallary, I do the tax payer.

around theses parts
92 in a 45 mph zone IS one nite in jail.... no license(confiscated on the spot)
& charged with reckless driving
with a CLEAN record
you would get a huge fine.... many points
restricted driving for several month(work only)
if you had a Very good lawyer
maybe.....MAYBE reduced to speeding if you have a
spotless record....last 5 years & a very influencial lawyer
huge fine
no lawyer.....loss of license
big fine & Jail time
if your sister can do it
you owe her big time
we have better luck attys asking the officer for a lot of wiggle room
prior to the court date.... usuallyrequires a good record
b4 he will stick his neck out
otherwise

I've asked this question numerous times be never got a real answer:
What if your caught in a 65-70mph speed zone (freeway/long straight/backroad-i.e. - safe spot but surely highly illegal) -at the top of 6th gear 170-190ish mph? We all have been there a few times...right?
wild un-knowledgeable guess: reckless, jail overnight, & huge fine? What would you officers write it up for?

Hopefully they wouldn't even see ya rip by. 
I don't remember what the top speed of the radar guns are. But I think it's way less than 170 (Help???).
Just keep going. By the time you get it stopped you'll be in the next county anyway.

Even if radar aren't too accurate at high speed, a guy in the UK got done for something like 180mph on a fireblade. When he proved that the bike could no way do 180, they didn't drop the charge, they just reduced it to the published top speed of the bike. Sounds a bit fishy to me.
Again in the UK, I got 6 month ban for 100 mph in a 70 limit, in the dry, the only other car on the dual-carriageway was an unmarked cop car, which I overtook 'cos he was driving like a boy-racer and I felt safer in front of him.

Last year I heard on the radio they clocked someone on a bike doing 160+ all time record On lakeshore drive in Chicago he was thrown in jail. I am sure the judge made an example out of him he probley still don't have a license.
Here in IL they don't go by the point system
3 moving violations in 1 year and your suspended or you can get court super vision
for a year and driving classes which you pay for.

around here the consensus is ... write the max, let the judge decide
you will need a lawyer
it will cost plenty
around here they are running digital computers in the car...... they have your dmv record available
so if you have been recently ..... very bad
they are less inclined to hear you out
or cut any slack
& thats if you Dont run...... Run & get caught
i dont know if you got enuf azzhole for that one..............

Actually. I live in a country where they don't have radar or laser, and they've all got slow cars/bikes - but I always was a freak for gadgets.
And it'll look good on the ashtray of the '12.

damn..where are you guys located?! Last year on my way to disney in my father's old Volvo I was pulled for 110 in a 70 in florida...the cop told me to pay the fine and take traffic school...when I got back from vacation I called up an ONLINE traffic school and POOF! 0 points & a clean record  Big fine ($300+), but it was worth it cause I was FLYING the whole way down... Crazy how the laws are so erratic state-to-state.

I got nailed for 101 in a 40....cop said thanks for stopping, i'm writing you for the speed and that's it. 2 points on the icense and $144.00 fine

Well, since you guys are just on the point system I guess your insurance wont' see the speed itself on your driving record, will they?
Yeah, I got popped with wreckless driving and whatnot. On probation for about a year because of it. But, in that case I do have to say that lawyers are where it's at!

HE said because my friend and i stopped he wouldn't give us the wreckless opp charge. I usually don't run a plate on my bike, it's usually under the seat, but i had it on that day and my buddy had his under his seat and the cop didn't even say anything, my buddy said it just fell off and he needed to get a screw, and the cop said oh, OK.
