Thinking about a project bike....
I just got back from my weekly hangout at the machine shop. One of the local machine shop owners has a weekly get together for old-school bikers who need to do some work to their bikes. Most of us just come and hang out.
Anyways, I've been looking for a project bike to restore for a while now. Well, guess what was sitting there in the shop calling my name:
1975 H1-F
6200 original miles
All the parts are there. It has good compression. It even still has the original tool kit that came with the bike. Plus, it still has the original warranty card and manuals that came with the bike.
I took some pictures, but I can't find my darn cable for the camera. I'll post pics tomorrow.
Man, I really have to think about this one. Anyone else restore an old Kawasaki triple?

H2smokin was on the site for a while and he has probably 6 or so of the triples. He knows everything and everyone that has parts, pieces etc. There are gazillions of parts and pieces around for them. He had his 12 listed in the classifieds. Might give a clue how to get a hold of him. He's in the middle of a divorce.
Velasco did some performance and restoration work on some of his 750's triples.
Don't know if you ever rode one but they weree beasts in their day, flexi fliers really. The frames flexed like pasta noodles! Their brakes were lousy etc. But they embarassed pretty much everything in a drag race in those days.

OK, I finally got the cord for my camera. Here's the pics of the bike.
Most of the problems with the bike are strictly cosmetic. It doesn't run right now, but it's got good compression. It wouldn't take much to get her running again.

I was ready to walk away and just say, 'no.' Unfortunately for my wallet, these guys showed up just before I left and showed me the potential of the bike.

My first "BIG BIKE" was an H1b 500 (1972' - orange tank/disk brake.) I came to love street motorcycling on that thing (was a dirt rider B4), & I discovered "bike exploring", "twisties," "drags," etc. on it.
I don't think parts are going to be that easy to find, but if you can get some spares, do it. Go on a search before you buy the thing, & see what's available as there are not that many around anymore...
Cool bikes...anyone notice the 69' in the pictures? Wow...

I agree with you, Dave. The white bike is gorgeous. He told me that it was a '70. The guy that owns it said that he restored it to the exact color of the one that he had when he was younger. He also told me that he totally scares himself with the flinstone brakes on that bike.

Hey Aris, there's a green ZX12R over at Fremont Cycle Salvage that's hardly damaged at all (looked at it last week.) Make a good project/race bike, then you can return one of them to street use... :;
