Cliff--- Weight Loss?
I saw a thread where someone mentioned how you cut quite a few pounds off your 12R. Can you please post a summary of the mods you made and the results?

Want some weight loss, you gota work for it baby. Here's what I did. Chuck the following and loose 40lbs:
- stock exhuast install Muzzy TI
- carved up rear foot hanger to accomodate exhaust bracket only, painted unit to match frame
- turn signals gone
- rear license holder assemble bolt license directly to plastic subframe mount
- stock mirrors (Baron handle bar unit on left side)
- all metal engine and frame brackets, where possible, substitute plastic tie wraps or nothing at all.
- handle bar end weights
- air box cover plates (built 2 plastic ones and increased the air box volume along the way)
- chain guard
- cut and grind swing arm brackets that hold the chain guard, paint swing arm to match frame
- cut pilon seat in half, (lose all hardware), use silicon to seal front portion into tail cushion postion.
- 1 of 2 horns gone!
- plastic upper engine cover fresh air system, install Muzzy plates.
- side stand switch and wiring
- cut off bottom of lower fairings by as much as 6" to allow for good ground clearance with bike lowered 2" front and 3" in rear. re-paint fairings.
- remove all ram air track down tubes and metal screens (nice straight shot to the box as well)
- remove all front brakeline frame holder brackets etc. install braided lines and tie wrap where necessary.
- remove all reflectors
- install smaller lighter bolts where ever possible. ie rear tail, get rid of big long heavy metal connectors, use small bolt and aluminum fairing grommet in the (4) holes.
Lastely, go over the entire bike 35 times and remove bits and pieces you deem unnecessary, I suggest you keep motor and frame!

Ive done the exhaust system and the brake lines/hardware.
Im not quite willing to hack as much as you have off my bike, but I may try a few things that you did.
I'd love to get lighter wheels, but they are so expensive.
Do you have aftermarket wheels also?
How does the removal of the bar end weights effect the level of vibration coming thru the bars? Can Y see a pic of your stock mirror removal/add on mirror?

Kaw Rider......No on the aftermrket wheels. I'd like a set of CF rims, but just can't seem to justify the 3000.00 Can to buy them and then another $500 to paint them, (buy a 2002 R1).....Vibration, what vibration, loose the bar ends.

Claude has agreed to post some pics for me. There will be (2) shots of the Napolean Baron handlebar mirror. The trick is to get the right length bolt. Go to your local bike shop they will have it. Secondly, you must cut flush the back of the Napolean mirror as shown. This way you get a good tight fit onto either the bar ebd weight, or just the naked aluminum bar as I do withour weights. Use lock tight.
The 3rd pic shows the plastic air box covers I made. Note I use a bead of silicon seal top and bottom to get a good tight fit. Even stock, I found these plates leak after awhile from a thin seal. You might want to fix your stock units if you don't like what I've done. My primary purpose was to increased the air box volume.

Hi guys........You may have noticed from the pics, I always tape my aircleaner slots to make sure I get a good seal. You never know!

Hi JessZ1......It's my PC3 cable running from the tail up under the bodywork to the front of the bike for easy connection to my laptop.

You cut a lot of stuff off!
(Not going to let you near my bike with that "hacksaw"!) 
But.. You gave me a few good ideas from the mirror setup & other general "hacking ideas". Getting down to <500lbs shouldn't be this hard!!

Heyt Oz.....Don't worry to much about the engine. I saw a gut on the weekend using a large can of Sterno for power in his 12 frame.....Dame bike only weighed 260 lbs. Top speed -8 mph!
