Have you notice on your bike a weird throtle unprecise shit at 5200/5500 rpm?
Mine yes
( not good on a curve! )

Those dyno numbers show how silky smooth the 12 is in that zone!

red, am i reading those numbers wrong? dont make no sense. how can HP be going down when torque is going up? its not mathematically possible (is it?). i can only guess that it's cause the meaurements are being made dynamically so momentum screws the numbers up. that & the software must not calculate HP from torque for momentary measurements.

Sorry frEEk! I accidently hit the submit button before I was finished with the post.
When I did a dyno run two years ago, here's what was happening between 5,200 and 6,400:
RPM - HP - Torque
5200 - 82.68 - 81.83
5400 - 80.88 - 83.12
5600 - 76.67 - 81.73
5800 - 74.89 - 82.67
5900 - 73.86 - 82.72 (bottom of HP dip)
6000 - 76.74 - 87.76
6200 - 83.94 - 99.07
6400 - 89.16 - 108.64
Between 5200 and 5900, I lost almost 9 HP and the torque basically flatlined. Between 5900 and 6400 (just 500 RPM), there was a 15.30 HP & 25.92 ft/lbs spike. ARGH!
After the remap, it looked like this:
RPM - HP - Torque (comparison)
5200 - 80.22 - 79.43 (-2.46/-2.40)
5400 - 81.00 - 83.28 (+0.12/+0.26)
5600 - 80.27 - 81.73 (+3.60/+3.84)
5800 - 78.47 - 86.65 (+3.58/+3.98)
5900 - 78.66 - 88.36 (+4.80/+5.64)
6000 - 78.84 - 90.07 (+2.10/+2.31)
6200 - 82.80 - 97.74 (-1.14/-1.33)
6400 - 86.77 - 105.73 (-2.39/-2.91)
Even though there was still a dip between 5200 and 5900, it was no more the 2.53 HP and torque continued to climb with no dip. There still was somewhat of a spike between 5900 and 6400, but now it was 8.11 HP and 17.37 ft/lbs. Uncorrected, the difference in the dip at 5900 was even greater and there was little to no difference at 6400.
I was more then willing to give up those few HP and ft/lbs at 6400 (using an SAE correction), just so I could have a smoother transition through that part of the RPM band.
What caused this? IMHO, it was running way too rich in that RPM band. For example:
RPM - Old A/F - New A/F
5200 - 11.79 - 13.68
5400 - 11.54 - 13.66
5600 - 11.30 - 13.55
5800 - 11.23 - 13.48
6000 - 11.42 - 13.51
6200 - 11.70 - 13.58
6400 - 11.83 - 13.63
The old map's A/F ratio did a hard climb from 11.23 @ 5800 to 13.29 @ 9200. The new map remained basically smooth and was still at 13.53 @ 9200. At this point, both the HP and torque were almost identical (163.90 & 93.57). This stayed the same until 10,300. That's when the old map's A/F started getting richer again.
By the time the bike had reached 11,650, the new map best readings were 182.28 & 82.18 and the old map was 172.26 & 77.66. In other words, the new map was all around smoother and pulled all the way to the rev limiter and the old map had a massive spike in the midrange and started falling flat on it's face after 10,300.

My engine is a tad "long in the tooth" with over 42K miles on it. I haven't had a chance to compare it to DaveinDaytona's map (which produced even better numbers and a smoother A/F ratio).
Of course, we're both running Muzzy pipes. If your not, I'm not so sure either one of our maps would be much help.

GOZR, you've got mail.
Actually, it says your e-mail address is "INACTIVE". So, I guess you don't have mail.

I do not know much about this problem with an 02 & 03, but with the 00 & 01, they need a Lot of fuel to run correctly! I had to add about 45% more at 5.5 on the 0 to 10% Throttle. I also know that the 02 & 03 need about 1/2 this amount! I think this is caused by the valve overlap and fuel trying to go out of the intake valve.
