Resistor mod question
Finally getting around to installing my Tsukigi exh. Whats the best place you guys have found to solder in a resistor(470 ohm) to richen it up and exactly what wire? I believe I got it but would like to be sure. I'm a long way from a tuning center.

What Cowboy said...'cept I soldered a male and a female plug to the resistor wire so I could unplug it when I want to....

hey guys i don't know electonics.
How would a 2-way switch work?
The set-up on the switch would be orange wire (in), 1 side would be a just wire (out) the other would be resistor (out). both of these would go the the other end of the orange wire?
Would it work?
If so Flip a switch and spray, flip and ride home.

No spray for me, just a pipe. Don't see a reason why it wouldn't work. A pair of M/F plugs sounds good too.
Thanks guys, I was just thinking there was a better place other than right next to the sensor, like under the tail.

Are you a electronics guy?
I was concerned about the resistance change going thru the switch and extra wire.
Should i be concerned?

ninja12, I had a varriable resistor on mine in july of 2000 and played with it on the dyno and it never did shit. It will smooth out the idle if you richen it up alot. But dont expect any HP gains. You wont see it on a dyno. So basically its a waste of time.

What, changing the engine temperature sensor output changes the fuelling that much?
I dunno about multi-throttlebody Fi, but single injectors use a hot-wire airflow sensor, I'd expect that do directly affect the mixture. But block temperature?
I want an aftermarket zorst, don't want to pay for a PC, but above all I want my baby's engine to be safe - running lean isn't something I even want to think about, never mind risk doing.

Speaking of "Resistors", a little "OT" I am putting a smaller pulley on the Mini which will increase boost by 4 pounds. The computer richens the mixture from the Boost sensor! Near peak, the F/A is 9 to 1. Anyone got a suggestion for some values on a resistor to try!
I already planned to first put a Male / Female plug on the wires so that when I had the car on the Dyno, I could plug in a few different resistors to "Attempt: to get the effect I want!
What I planned to do is put the M/F Connection in the wire and clip a volt meter in line to see what is going on, but because there is voltage, I cannot use the Ohm meter to see what would work!

VincentHill.
Surely fuel/air is 1/9, not 9/1? What is it, supercharged?
And is that a real Mini? As in Austin Mini?

OK A/F. Yes it is already rich (Too rich) ! I want about 11 to 1 air fuel ratio, but the pulley will increase the boost and make it richer yet. I am hoping that the higher the boost, the stronger signal it sends so a resistor would lower the signal and maybe allow it to be leaner!
Scardy it is a new Mini "S" That is Supercharged. We just ran it at maxton where it set a record at 119 and then 120 and eventuslly ran 122 in the standing mile

Put connectors on to have the resistor either bypassed or in service. Can't tell it did much of anything. Still got a dead spot 2-3K. Looks like a PC and a road trip to a tuning center is in order.
