Oxygenated Fuel

Does it make my bike run leaner or richer? My thought is leaner and you add a little more fuel to get the extra power?? This Sunoco makes the bike run different (Sluggish!)

To be honest, if you use Nutec Spec 5, the 'official' answer is that you should not have to richen up at all! ( I know, ....surprising isn't it?)

However, it seems like I've seen a few dyno charts on in the drag forum where people have added 3% - 5% more fuel to get their numbers.

Kevin should have a handle on this one, he should have tested lots of different bikes on Nutec, eh?

My bike doesn't like to idle on Nutec, I keep killing it when putting around the pits. Is this common?

while racing we found a lot of the "hi tech" fuels
added nothin !!!!

where they excelled was fewer flaws/disadvantages
primary....little chance at detonation/hole in top of piston

if you didnt dyno.... why run the stuff

i think i remember you sayin last time at maxton
you needed more ignition advance..... you had advancers..... didnt use them

if you do you should get good..... not dramatic results
you have road raced before..... a little spark advance gives a motor
top-end pull.......you can feel it creeping.....some on past redline
with the fuel you can add spark to accomplish that top-end pull

no the dyno wont show it

good luck

Just thinking outloud....Id have to assume it would run leaner.

With more oxygen in the combustion chamber acting on the rest of the fuel...Id think that would cause a more efficient and hotter burn of the fuel/air mixture leaving less unburnt fuel exiting the exhaust...thus reading as leaner than regular pump gas.

some fuels.....(we tried aircraft fuel)
actually burn Slower

simply put...... there is no rule of thumb
the best/right thing to do is tune for ikt

plugs chops..... or knock sensors....or EGT'S(exhaust gas temp sensors?)
Very Very handy............not AF'S air fuel ratios(as most sniffers are..!!)
some of the new age fuels are really hard to read
not like the lead.... octane fortified fuels back in the day

good luck

Vincent,
I've ran Nutech Spec 5 and VP MR1 back to back on the dyno with both showing 5-6 hp gain. We toyed with the map but found no improvement, that included richening and leaning out the fuel.
Last week I ran VP Ultimate 4 at the strip. I have not had a chance to dyno the bike with this fuel yet and it was hard to compare my trap speed to the other fuels since it was so hot and muggy.
We actually wrote a slightly richer map for Nutech for one of the Maxton meets but I didn't improve any during the day by downloading the new map.
Now I just dump it in and GO!

BA, My Idle was not as strong and just did not sound as good as it did on VP!

Flite Leader, Against my own experience, I added timing this time and it seemed to slow the Bike down on top (Like a person going up for a rebound and someone puts a finger on your shoulder and you use a foot of Height you planned to jump! )

I just have not had time to put it on a dyno and maybe will make a call to see what I see! Maxton changed fuels after I had a good set up on VP. I now need info on this SUNOCO! The Pipe was wa little darker because I did up the Buttons and then lean then to see what if any differences I could detect! I hate being in the dark! I will make a call tomorrow and got a little Dyno time before Friday ( A little Drag Racing testing to see what I can do with the 12, but the weather is promising Rain all day!!)

well vicent
my first question is....... why did you change at all

free world
if you wanted to or you had to i understand

you had a working setup
& over time most can be improved upon incrementally

in other words ........ride the horse that brung ya !!!!!!
tweakin what you already had made not have been much
still might be more than you have now

some of those new age fuels......ELF comes to mind
they have been dicussions to ban them
simply because many a rider has complained about all kinds of health related ills
after lapping behind someone using the stuff

the important thing is to get the most out of the one you are using

good luck

WRONG! It is not a free country! If any record is to be Official at Maxton, you "MUST USE THE FUEL SUPPLIED BY THE ASSOCIATION AND HAVE YOUR TANK SEALED" Case closed! That is it, plain and simple!

You can run what ever you like, NOS, Meth. Alcohol, but that puts you into a fuel class. If you run Gasoline but set a record, it will not count and lose 50 points to boot! Yes you can run Pump gas, but not set a record!

I would dyno it, and if you would like more info I am sure you can get the MSDS sheet and it will give you a few more of the chemical stuff about it...oh before I used the MO2X, the 104 GT was the fuel I wanted..... well good luck!!

Thanks MM! Dr. Dan, I have never used Nutech and was even more afraid that I would like it! I understand the no change, it was like the stacks where nothing seems to work the best!

I will have it on the Dyno Thursday night and check it where it is and then on the Buttons only to see if any changes are made!

We are becoming a Dealer for VP Fuels!!!
From what I have heard...NOTHING is as good as Nutec though!!!

We need to catch up on building like FOUR Motors here...then??? IF we get a chance to breath (ha-ha)...we will test the VP Oxygenated fuels against Nutec
I am VERY glad to become a VP Dealer because...we will need C-16 for John's bike when we get serious with the NO2

Oh-ya...
I get a MINIMUM of 4Hp just pouring Nutec into...whatever we pour it into...
For 15-FREEKIN $$$s a gallon??? it BETTER!!!

Kevin,
The VP Ultimate 4 is a BUNCH cheaper than MR1 or Nutech,
it's "almost" reasonable.

Ryan Schnitz did back to back testing on several brands of Nutec and VP fuels with dyno comparisons. Like Dan says, mapping didn't do much of anything these fuels like your standard map with no changes, at least that's what Ryan said.

The new VP fuel made the most power if I recall correctly, let me dig up his post. Here is the original post by Ryan Schnitz:

---------
Did fuel testing last night on my modified ZX-9, and also a stock 2000 R1.

Fuel Power increase over Pump Gas

Modified Bike

Ulitmate 4 4.2%
MR1 4.2%
Nutec Special 5 6.1%
MR9 5.7%

Stock Bike
Ulitmate 4 1.6%
MR1 2.6%
Nutec Special 5 2.9%
MR9 3.6%

Testing was done on Ryan Schnitz Racing's 250 Dynojet Dyno with Eddy Current. 1/2 gallon of fuel was used, then drained. Approx. 6 pulls were done with each fuel and the best Peak Horsepower runs were used. All of these fuel caused the bikes to run rich at lower RPM, but remained nearly the same as pump gas in the higher RPM Range.

VP Ultimate 4 $50.00
VP MR1 $75.00
Nutec Special 5 $90.00
VP MR9 $90.00
(5 gallon cans)

Say Dan, I'm sure you've been to the VP website,........buried in there is a nice Excel-looking chart of the fuels and applications.

I realize MR1 is a good/great 4-stroke fuel but did you think about trying the MR-9 or is it too expensive??

By the way, VINCE and Dan,....that Nutec is some N A S T Y smelling stuff, so beware Vince,.........Dan, was the MR-1 any better or normal smelling??

Kcaby...where are you buying Nutech for 15 dollars a gallon. $90.00 is the going rate and that breaks down to $18.00 a gallon. Nutech had a price increase.

BA,
I've not tried MR-9, nobody around here has run the MR-9 so we may give it a try.
As for the smell.....Nutech & MR-1 both are pretty strong but I noticed the Ultimate 4 is not as foul and it's blue!
