My buddy that died who had a 12 suggested that I get one if I planned to ride in summer in Florida. It was only $39. If it helps then cool. If not, then no real big loss.
I'm also having the engine and coolant system flushed while its in the shop. Hopefully everything will
Help.
Make sure they put some "Water Wetter" in w/the new coolant; will decrease temps drastically.
I told ya on the other site: watch out while "cloverleafing" man, you gonna find someones antifreeze/oil spill & go flying off the road @ speed. Try trackdays or drive to the twisties instead...

190 RWHP SAE on pump gas?
I suppose thats possible...but we are talking about 15 RWHP over a stocker with a pipe and filter basically.
Standard HP.....race fuel....some other little "tricks"...I can see it. Maybe the dyno is "happier"?

From what I understand, these bikes make about 160hp in stock form. So that's 30hp from stock. But, I am under the impression that NOBODY would do these mods with the stock exhaust. I'm seeing most ZX12'S GET Somewhere in the 170's with a proper exhaust, filters, and PC.

Carpenter is well documented as having a HAPPY DYNO... He's not a ZX12R guru he's a Busa lover. He does have some mean Busa motors but as far as a 12R goes you best bet is either Sal at ACE Performance, Coby Adams, or Jim at Competition CNC.. In no certain order.. All three have been known to build some great 12R motors and like everything else they all been accused of building junk. It's just the name of the game. Any engine builder can only do so much before the customer gets their hands on the package and screws it up then blames the engine builder.

You will see more in the 160 Hp range than the 170's range.. There's so many things that a dumb ass owner can influence that robs power on these things. Anything from the wrong oil wt to having too much oil can kill power or make power show up where it wasn't before. Simple, simple things but you add several of those together and you end up with a slow piece of shit. Then the flip side is the guy that in anal about every last detail and he gets power from the same package that others don't. Same effect there's a ton of small things that all added together equal extra power. It all comes down to how much do you want it? How important is having the fastest bitch around to you? Because it takes up and consumes your life keeping up with every last detail. And NEVER believe dyno numbers because those can be made to say just about anything the man running the dyno wants or needs them to say. The proof is in the pudding of how does it run when it's tossed into the pit with the baddest of the bad. That's all that matters at the end of the day. Does it live or die a painful slow ass death..

Thanks for the good words gunner. Your always a straight shooter. The anticipation is killing me. Can't wait to feel that new clutch with the lower gearing. It's always been fun to drive, but every time I do a round of mods, it just keeps getting better. I'll be able to have some fun with It for a little while before the full exhaust gets installed. That will be October. Then the rest will happen in January.

I have had 2 bone stock ZX-12s before I modified them. Both made 148 RWHP SAE, pump gas. That means stock. That means stock air filter, stock exhaust system with the restrictive cat still in place. That is different dynos, different bikes, different states, same number.
When I had my 1st one with a gutted cat but stock otherwise (oem header and muffler) it made 160 RWHP on another dyno....continuing that day it made 175 RHWP with the muzzy exhaust system bolted on, K&N, pc3 and tuned on pump gas.
Fast forward years later, I picked up the 2nd one....bone stock. stock air filter, stock exhaust with cat still in: 148 RWHP SAE. Removed exhaust, installed K&Ns and a full muzzy...no pc3 yet...and it burped out 172 RWHP SAE.
So when someone says they make 160 or something stock....ask them "how stock" it is.

I spoke with Owen today at length and the information you were given was correct there's no more Arata pipes for the ZX12R. He has one pipe left in stock but it's missing one of the head pipes so it's useless for all intents and purposes. That's that so they say.
After spending 2 hours talking with Owen today he finally says he thinks he knows where there's ONE ZX12R system left that he shipped out to dealer that still has it. He ask me to find out if you are a serious player and if I called him back and told him you wanted the thing he would get it back for you. It's going to be in the 2K price range.. I'm going to PM you some information that doesn't need to be discussed here. Check your PM's

I figured as much. Honestly, I think I am going to go with a Brocks Alien head. I talked to one guy who had one in his 00a1zx12r. No flat spots and lots of power. For the price, I think it will do just fine. I love the sound of them AND I know they are better than the Muzzy. For $1500 I can get the PC3 and Brocks Alien Head system installed with a dyno-tune. The striker/Arata will be at about $1000 more by the time it's all said and done.
Whats your take on Advancers Gunner? What would be your suggestion? Do they really improve HP?

After spending 2 hours of my day talking to Owen about the headers and the economy he tells me that he's 99% sure where there's 1 last system for the 12R is hiding. He said for me to find out if you are a serious player or just bull shitting and if you really want the thing he would take the time and expend the efforts to buy it back from the dealer that has it ---------------------------> In another country no less. It will be close to $1900 range give or take a couple hundred in either direction depending on what the exchange rate is at the time he buys it back from he distributor that has it currently.
As far as the advancers go I have one on my 12R set at +4.5 degrees advance and the bike likes it. However since the ECU's can be hacked these days advancers are a waste of money. Just advance your timing at the time you hack your ECU..
I need to speak to you via PM but your account won't allow a PM for some reason. Contact me before you go and marry Brock on a header pipe. I have spent a lot of my time digging around trying to find you a header pipe including 2 PLUS hours today with Owen. I already have an Arata and don't really need another but if you're not wanting one I'll buy the last one and put it away for a rainy day. God knows I love having spares for everything and finding out if my header gets damaged I won't be able to replace or repair it because there are no more is more than enough to convince me to buy up the last pipe if you're not going to jump on it.

OK gunner. I'm not bullshitting. I extremely serious about my bikes. I sank over 10 grand into my zrx making it one of the badest bitches around for a zrx. I used to be able to keep up with CBR 1000's. I made it to 160hp/100 lbs trq.
I made a promise that I would make my zx12 a true monster to my friend that past away. He was like u and would do anything to help me out. Please do what ever u can to get that pipe and I WILL buy it in October. We WILL meet someday. Where do u live again. I have not met anyone like u in a long time. Thanks for being u. In having my engine flushed and cooling system flushed as well to bring my zx12 to perfection. Muzzy clutch kit with new hub will be here wed. Billet basket will be here next week. I'm in for the long haul. Let's do this!!

Dude I just hate seeing guys waste good money on junk parts. That coupled with my desire to see the 12R properly modified and preserved. The day will come when guys that once owned a 12R will wish they still had it. The 12R is a revolutionary motorcycle that never got the credit it deserved. I'm just doing my part to help the remaining ones not get junked up and eventually discarded.

I wouldn't waste my time or money on a Brocks. Arata and Akrapovic are not an option for you any longer - I would go Yosh and spend my money elsewhere.
I have a brand new never used Akrapovic SS header/TI can I will sell to you for $2500. Supply and demand. :-)

Blitz, I want that exhaust but I think that is just a little steep. How about $1800 or somewhere under $2000.

I spent some time digging around here and I believe tuusinii is correct - the only (new) Akrapovics I can find left on the face of the earth for the 12 are those seven in Germany.
Arata - nothing. I can find nada, zip. I agree with you Gunner - if you have access to what could be the last Arata on the face of the earth it might be a wise investment.
I have friends in Germany and am debating having them order one of the Akra's for me and then ship it.
Akra or Arata - they are becoming very rare indeed.

If somebody would be happy with a used pipe that may work for them.
If you look carefully at the header, like everything I have seen come from England it's rusted to shit. Corrosion seems to be a major issue there. (No offense to the Brit's).

Yeah, England isn't good place to buy used Motorcycle parts... I was lucky myself that I found second hand Akra last year for half the new price from Germany. And it was very mint - no scrathes or nothing. Even the inside of the pipes were like new. After that I've only seen very "used" ones - or completely new ones for big $$. But every pipe can be made to work and have different beheaviours. And I for one don't say Akra works without fiddling with fuel as some others. I had to take 30% fuel of @3000RPM. But that wasn't compared to stock fueling but stock pipe adjusted for good AFR so completely stock can be a little better but not anywere near perfect - so get the bike tuned for your pipe and enjoy riding!
