2005 zx12R hesitation @ 9-10K
All, I need your assistance.
I am working on a 05 zx12r, the bike is stock with the exception of a EFX slip on.
Symptoms:
-hesitation during hard acceleration
-starts around 9k thru 10k
This only occurs during hard acceleration, it will hang, once it clears that power band it screams.
The bike pulls normal until it reaches the 9k
Things I plan to check:
-plugs (will replace regardless of what's there)
-check fuel system (pressure)
-fuel tank (cali model with carbon canister) Action: will remove canister, but keep seperator for fuel tank pressure
-check TPS for correct voltage
-dyno pull to try and duplicate hesitation
Thanks in advance for your assistance... it's been a long time since I owned or worked on a zx12....

I've never worked on a newer 12R, but I had a 00' for a decade that was just a joy to ride. I wanted to, but never got around to put on a ECU controller, it was stock w/Akro/Evo, K&N's, Dymags & a few other goodies. The thing ran perfectly/maybe if a bit on the lean side. Never missed/popped/studdered or anything in the rpm range you mention. That's kinda weird for it to be missing THERE.
Got to be ECU/or maybe electrical gremlin. Have you tried re-seating all the cables in the wiring harness= especially the EFI harness? That would be the 1st thing I would try. Might be some smutz got into a connector. Also, have you checked to see if your bike needed the wiring harness recall? I don't know if the newer one's did, but be worth a phone call to a dealer or KAW tech support.

Figured out the problem, its running too lean. Changed the plugs, bike is running fine.
