ET & HP,- - - - 00-01 12R vs 02-03 12R
From the Dyno tests I've seen, it sure seems like a "definite" now that the 02-03 puts out a few more ponies than the first generation 12R. (initial hype put aside)
Is that what you guys have seen?
What is the cause for this? I heard rumour long ago that it was the Head design, is that right? Or could it be the cams?
I'm speaking of peak power only here.....

So far what I've seen is mixed reviews. I have seen both lower and higher numbers. At best I would say they are pretty much the same hp numbers. In my case I have yet to physically see a 2002 or 2003 make as much horsepower as a 00 01. The 02 and 03 are more refined chasis wise but I have not seen anything to point to more horsepower.

As reference, I keep hearing Dyno runs of 178 - 183 for the 02 12R's, and it seems as if most 00-01 12R's are more like 169 - 175.
Understanding the differences between locations, dyno's, SAE, etc. I still have some doubts about them having more peak HP.

I have not seen any dyno runs close to 180 out of a stock 12 period. And the 02 stock dyno runs have been in the 148 to 156 area. And the 00 -01 runs have been 152 to 162 stock.

Sorry, I didn't mean stock,.........I'm thinking after the typical Pipe, Air Filter and PCIIIR type of changes........ Your average bolt-on's.
I think mine (an 00) was 156/172.x

Well if it helps,
My 00 12R did 155 on the dyno
My 02 12R did 159 on the same dyno.
Both were bone stock!!!

Yes, but one would expect a minimun of 4 to 5 hp delta even among two stock bikes of the same year.

My stock 02 put out 159hp at 2800 miles. 179 with Akro and pc3r.

Oh 2s have slightly more power. Havent dynoed mine back to back on the same dyno, but the 02 is definitely stronger. I think even Muzzy noted this at one time.
