Took the motorcycle license test today
I took a friend down to the get his motorcycle license today. He borrowed my daughters Honda Hawk to take the test on. 650 CC, little v-twin, turns on a dime, idles and thumps around like a champ. Hard to beat for taking the test on. He passed with flying colors with a 92. There was suposed to have been six people scheduled for the test. Only two showed. My buddy and guy who was on a new ZZR 1200 that had failed the week prior. As my Buddy took the test I talked with the ZZR guy and pointed out that he needed to use his clutch more in lieu of just the throttle. We practiced for a few minutes and he was stoked with the new revelation. He took the test and smoked it without killing the engine.
The State guy came over to me and asked if I wanted to take the test for fun. I said what the heck, the last time I took the test was in 1974. Rolled up on the line with the 12 and smoked the test. Kept the old 12 in the box, between the lines, didn't touch any cones, and for the final emergency stop manouver I stopped exactly on the line no point deductions!

oh a 12 no less! do u have to do teh figure 8s too? that's what gave me the most trouble. they make u do them in the full lock turning raius of ur bike plus 1 meter

yep! The toughest part I felt was where they set up a left turn. They have this 4 foot wide painted both sides left hand turn box. You have to enter into the lane and make the turn without crossing or touching the lines. It is a true test of turning the 12 as tight as it will go.
I was tempted to do a stoppy on the emrgency stop, but didn't want to piss the guy off since he was nice enough to let me play.

I was forced to "retake" the road portion back in 91 since the FL DMV screwed up on the license transfer from NJ. Pretty funny to see an old Harley guy with a big bagger bike trying to take the test. He told me, he'd pass no problem. He'd ridden well over 200,000 miles without a license!
He must have ran over 25 of the 40 cones on the course. He missed the test by 4 points. I laughed. I rode flawlessly just for spite. I think he might have been drunk...or at least very hung over.
Once I had the endorsement reinstated I broke 50 traffic laws on the way to the court house to clear my "pending" cases...bastids!

I took mine on an RD400. I'd been riding about 2 months max.
The guy said "you've been riding a while haven't you?" "Ummmmmm, no."
There are a lot of people out there riding around everyday who can't ride worth a fuck!

The last Test I took in DC, I passed with 5 points to spare. My front wheel touched the line at the Crosswalk and lost 10 points for failure to stop before a cross walk and 10 points for stopping in a cross walk! No other deductions

Hey fellas I took my test on a 1983 V-65 Magna!!! YIKES!!!!! What a turd.  Loved the V-Four, hated the rest of the bike. I called it a waterbed on two wheels, worst handling bike I've ever ridden.

I had to take bike safety driving test every year while in the army.
You should have seen the pitiful shakey circles some folks were doing.
One guy in particular I remember had a 125cc moped type bike and could barely keep it in the circle while wobbling and almost falling over.
I came up right after him on my kz1000 and was leaning way over and doing the circles much tighter and faster than anyone there.
Some people should just stick to cars.
My wife is taking a special 3 day learning course this May (they provide the bike) and I'm worried about what will happen after she passes and wants to "hit the streets".
She doesn't have a bike and the 12 is too big for her.
I would have to lower the dual sport 650 for her, or get a new 600.
Her lack of experience on a bike scares the hell out of me.
Especially after her last offroad incident on her DR125 with a series of one foot whoops and her refusal to pull in the clutch and stop like I told her to do on the top of the first one.
Her solution, lose control by riding the bucking bronco over all 4 whoops with wide open throttle due to losing balance on bike and just holding on for dear life.
After the series of whoops was a nice wide open field with only one tree which she was heading for at full throttle in first gear while somehow riding the bike in the superman flying position.
Luckily she fell over 5 feet before the tree. (whew!)
A lot of the roads around here are almost like driving offroad.
And the cars have no mercy as you all very well know.
Maybe I should take out a really big life insurance policy on her.
But that wouldn't fix the problem.

Took a female friend for her road test on her sporster a few years ago and she failed because while sitting on the bike she could not back it up thru the 8 pylons.Where the fuck would you do that in real life?Only in Canada eh?

What is a road test??
Here in LA, the trooper asks you if you have ridden a bike for a while. You tell him/her __ years. They say OK, take this over to the DFA and get the endorsement put on your license. Of course, this is after taking a mind boggling 20 question multiple guess test. Hmmmm, wonder why so many newbies are crashing lately....????
