steady speed hunting
my bike starts hunting when trying to hold a steady speed.Is there a general rule of thumb as to whether I should raise or lower the fuel bias on a pcIII?I put a poor man's stroker in it and this really exasperates the effect.

Are you sure you don't have an air leak? Seat of the pants diagnosis would say your are experiencing a lean running problem. Could be an air leak or you might need to richen things up. Is it a steady speed thing or more a steady speed at a routine continuous speed around 60 or 70 for instance.
I always suggest people mark the throttle position that they do the majority of their highway cruising at. This way the dyno operator can tune for good horsepower etc., but also make sure the bike is running well in the normal operating zone. A common thing we see is people with a good top end map and the bike running lean at at a constant 70 mph in 6th gear. Oops!
So check for air leaks and then if you can't go for a new map, try adding some fuel.
A good way (seat of the pants) to make a quick check on if your running lean is cover half of your ram air duct with some duct tape and take a quick ride. Should richen things up and give you a quick clue!

I usually notice the problem right after accelerating and then try to maintain the speed that I just got to.It only happens at 3-4000rpm. I wish I could have a map made but it would cost $600 and thats a nice chunk that could go for a new pipe. the map I'm using is the one supplied with the powerjet for a slip-on muffler.I like the duct tape bit and will give it a try.

Mine does the same thing at times but it's more like 5K.
At a steady 70 the throttle is touchy too. Gonna hafta spring for a map when the pipe goes on.
