Engine Broke. Need Advice and Help.
I wondering if any of you guys can help me. I have been a member on this board since zx12r came to life in 2000, and I myself got the first one in Western Australia, Australia to go on the road. But while riding along at 8okmh the other day the exhaust valve broke and destroyed cylinder 1 and it also destroy inlet valves as welland it has only done 21000km. We didn't get offer the three years warranty down here and the bike has just turn 3 anyway. I don't drag race it or do anything stupid on it just casual riding!! I don't know if I should try and challenge kawasaki over the damage, or what should I do? Should I just take what is coming to me? The valve broke on the stem of the valve and then after damaging the cylinder and piston it logged it self back up in the valve train and jammed that to.
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated

Not much will be done at the dealer level, but going to the Importers and pleading you case. You do have some records to show that either you or someone adjusted the valves and did the oil Changes.
Does anyone know if These Valves are stainless or are they the Welded together ones?

Thanks VincentHill, As I under stand that it is solid, and yes I do have records of all my services. I even have a print out of the valve specs after the 12,000km service and they were spot on right in the middle of the range. You think with such a high powered bike that valves would last long then 3years/ or 21,000kms.

I would suspect this is going to fall in the catagory of bad luck. BUt if your dealer has any kind of pull with Kawi he might be able to help you out if not 100% maybe 50%. The factory does have some customer relations options on occassion. It is a good idea to talk this over with your dealer, ask to talk to the factory rep.
Also I have found that in circumstances like this you need to be nice and make sure that the rep knows you are asking for help and understand it is not their obligation.

Yep, Zhool is right. In this case it's best to get the dealer on your side and see if he can HELP.
My grandmamma said you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
I never really understood what she'd do with 'em once she got 'em, though.

Thanks guys, I have seen the valve that did the damage it looks like a dog tried to eat it. Nothing came in the inlet valve at all, but it was a exhaust valve that broke and it looks like a funny break too. It seems to have a smooth circle in the middle of the stem of the valve right were it broke. The stem of the valve was still in place when then remove the rocket cover but once he got the valve train of he saw the problem. And I have spoken to the rep and he is going to do his best to help I don't mind paying some but not 6g for something that shouldn't break on a stock bike of 20th kms. Anyway thanks for you advice guys.

Fix it yourself dude, you can do it MUCH cheaper. A piston, a set of rings, and send the head out for repair. I would say you could fix it for under $700, thats if you have to ship the head all the way to APE for seats, guides, valves, valve job. Hope it works out for ya. I work at a dealer, the rep ain't gonna do chit for ya. Our rep used to say that same shit all the time. "I will see what I can do, but..." Good luck bud.

There is something to the "customer relations" type of fix I think. You should inquire about it.
I had a broken clutch basket replaced on a 6R that had no warranty.
I believe that I broke it by doing daily 2nd gr wheelies on it. 1st gr up to 10k, then WOT and BAAAMMM!! 2nd gr and a slight tug. All day long, ...and that was back in 97!

BA, its called a Goodwill warranty. Some dealers can pull that with manufacturers if they sell a lot of their product or can prove that the customer in question buys or has bought a lot of their products. Not sure about kawi. I start working at a kawi dealer in about 2 wks, I will let you know the tricks of the trade with kawi. I always heard kawi was the best to deal with concerning warranty repairs. Suzuki absolutely sucks ass. Warranty isn't worth the paper its on.
