another charging issue
I've read and read numerous posts on the subject, went out to the shed, pulled off the seats, unplugged the generator leads, started and checked voltage, only 45v @1500 rpms, run up to 4000 and it showed 116v on all 3 wires, that damn ohm test seemed to only give me .1, my multimeter doesnt show a a 1ohm settting so i used the 200 or something like that, plugged it back up and unplugged the rectifier wires, started bike, volts were at 15-16vdc on the rectifier, but when ran up to 2500rpms it went wayyyy up, plugged it back up and tested the same wires, the brown feedback showed 12.12v and the other 2 showed 12.44vdc, I believe the vdc should be up above 13 something to run the bike and charge the battery right? Would the stator having low resistance still allow over 116 vac to the rectifier but limit the output of the charging volts to the battery? I hope the hell i worded that right, lol, oh the plug was already mended up from prior issues with the plug. Oh and the bike will ride fine after charging battery but then after a good 30 or so miles the guage cluster went dark and the bike cut off. bike sat for 40 min, push started and it rode bout 4 miles and did the same thing, charged battery and it fires right up, thats when i did the test as stated earlier. I'm thinking the rectifier is fine thats why it shows such a high voltage because the feedback wire was showing 0 input and once plugged up the battery showed it was already at 12.8 and needed no charging, sooooo stator needs replacement right?

Put new stator on, fired it up just to see if headlight was coming on after startup, it quit previously, well it came on, so all is fixed right? Nope, hooked up rectifier, started bike, still voltage is not above battery voltage, 12.60, cut bike off, stator wires pretty hot, this is within 2 min or less, soldered 4th wire to plug for headlight, Now started n headlight doesn't come on, fuse n junction box is good need to check fuse n battery box, as for stator, at 4500 it only shows 70 vac, what the hell is going on, new stator, shouldn't it b boasting 110-120?, could a defective rectifier cause a new stator issues that quick,

Did You check the rectifier with multimeter in Diode position? It really sounds like the rectifier is shorted between two inputs. There are instructions in the manual how to check the rectifier. And unfortunately it also looks like Your stator is toast. Did You check that the rectifier was also very hot? It should be if there is a short there... First check the rectifier and also look for other possible problems like cracks in the wiring that could make a short. But my first bet would be the rectifier...

Did You check the resistance from the stator wires to ground to be infinity? That would suggest there is a short in the wiring...

Rectifier was the culprit, so even if stator was good there's a new one in it now, LOL
