Best Drag tire....and why
I am searching for a better tire to run outback on the 12 this season and was wondering what you guys thoughts where on this subject. I did some research and found some pretty old threads but wanted to touch base again for a re-fresher. I am talking 90%drag tire 10% street. What and why.

SHINKO 003....I hardly ever put my "street" tire on between races unless I'm going to ride a few hundred somewhere.
I'm looking for the best deal right now. I bought a used rim and tire last year and I still have some thread left. About a hundred passes and a thousand "street" miles on it.

I seen Diamond Powersprots had them for like $160

You prefer that tire over the MCR2?

6 over and it never spins at the track that I know of. Just need to heat it up GOOD. Works on the street too. One of my friends MT lasted about 500 miles of street/strip...and his didn't work as well as my Shinko. Cheaper, too....

MCR2 is the only way I would go but it really depends on your mods and if you have an arm?? etc......

The M/T MCR2 is better if for DRAG but it will wear away in HOURS on the street, it's way too soft for the street. The Shinko works awesome for both street and strip, I've been 8.85 ET on my Shinko, and ride on the street with it all the time, wears almost like a regular street tire. The M/T tire is softer and will hook harder or better on tracks that are not prepped well.. lucky for me MIR is one of the best tracks on the east coast for traction.

I havent had my bike on the street in about a year. I have pretty much decided to make a track onky bike out of it. I have a 17/48 and a 6" extension and an air shifter. So I am thinking MCR2 as well.

2 of my buddies switched from the MCR to the Shinko, and said they like the Shinko much better and lasts longer!!!...I have been using the PilotSport HPXs after the OEM Dunlops and have told them to try the HPXs since they ride Busas, but they went with the Shinko because its cheaper!!!
I highly recommend the HPXs, cant say anything bad about them!!!

We haven't had as good of luck with the shinko as others say they have...we will use ONLY the MCR2...
I don't remember seeing ANY Shootout bikes? with shinkos???
IF you are lucky like RAC...and have a GREAT track/traction...(and believe it or not...GAINESVILLE can SUCK for traction when there isn't a "real race in town")...a shinko might be good enough...

my setup is very similar to yours, i use a shinko on a not so good track and it works pretty well. the m/t is not suitable for street use because of the sidewall construction(seems a bit soft to me ) bike very squirmy (is that a word)

Well that is why Doug quit selling them. People where trying to run them on the street and he did not want the liability.
