my 2000 12 is slow need help

Guys I no the 12 is a good bike but my friends on 05 and 06 gsxr 1000 r killing me. What's up? Everybodys bike is about the same streach 8in but they r killing me. What can I do to go faster without rebuilding the motor.

What have you done to compensate for the inherent 100 lb advantage the gsxr has?

A roll on with a bike that has the same or close to the same hp that's also 100 pounds less than u n ur 12 will get busted up everytime, sorry, power to weight wins hands down n a roll on contest

Mark, make sure you remind this guy you're a very light guy, like I am. You know and I know if I were to jump on a similarly modded 05 1000 to you on your 12R I'd roll out on you and you'd only have a chance to reel me in deeep in the run....deeper than what most people even take it to on the streets. Our weight helps tremendously in roll-ons compared to the "average" American male...let alone a bigger guy.

With the typical bolts I raced against a friend's 05 1000. Going heads up with my 130 lb ass against him at 210 lb guy....it was NEVER close. Yes on paper we were "close" in total weight and about the same HP....but I'd stomp him silly every time.

You probably need to spend some time and work on your setup as well as practice a lot.

@130 i'm sure my 9.75 would go to an 9.3x lol, put you on a 05 1000 and a guy ur same size on a 12 and i bet that 1000 is in front, my boy has an 05 1000 and went 9.17 @ 150, and that was 1 .52 60', if i pulled the same 60' my best run would be 9.4x, power to weight, power to weight, lol, and yes i'm a lil jealous, can i be 130 for 1 track day.....please...lol

So although there are natural differences with the big bikes vs liters in general....

What you're telling me is in total you are giving about

200 lbs

While presumably retaining roughly the same HP....

And want to know why you can't keep up?

Yea, go with what Supra said, so you can't spend the most for the least amount of reliability.

Drop some weight off you and the bike and/or invest in a small nitrous shot.

You don't need "1427" ... you don't have to go that big. You just need some more HP.

I did the ace 1287 thing and didn`t gain a whole lot in the 1/4 mile with a lighter than average 02 zx12....head,cams, ECU work, and 1287, with his real world tuning system...Maybe they go faster in a mile run....Stock motor 9.45@145 after 9.25@149... I weigh 187lbs. JMO....
Got a date to put it on the dyno and see what this motor has for hp.....

Doing just a 1270/87 kit will only give round 10hp or so, if u do do the kit do the head n cams to reap bigger benefits, or do like i'm trying n sell the 12 to get a 14, Lol, just put a SS head in a 14 you'll b flying
