How much timing do you run at idle?

I am working on an ecu map for what is basically a low compression long stroke zx12r 12.0:1 cr and 69.2mm stroke and stock bore.

I am having some issues choosing my idle timing, right now I am bouncing between 6 and 8 degrees btdc. Yesterday it fired right up with 6 degrees and today it wouldn't start with less than 8.

What do you run?

Thanks for clearing that up, I found 2 maps.one with 7 and one with 10. I had started with 3 degrees and needless to say it ran like crap.

Its the stock stroke for kawasakis ZX12r based jetski engine. We get a standard dimension 12f which is exactly the same as the zx12 and we also get the motor I have which is a 1498 cc stroked version. The 12f is 11.2:1 and the 15f was 10.6:1 both have very lazy cams but are good to use if you have a turbo or supercharger. I dont so Im using the more aggressive bike cams and 12:1 pistons.

I bought the ski for 500 dollars almost 4 years ago. The motor was stock and I built it up and am trying to get it ready to ride for this week.
