Off topic question. Re: KLR650
I've owned 2 of these in the past and am considering another but I want more power!!!! I've done the pipe/filter/carb thing and its still not KTM or for that matter XR.
Now, I know where I can pick up an EX500 motor in good shape for $350. Anyone know what kind of hassle I'd have fitting an EX500 motor into a KLR frame? Can it be done without breaking the bank? Can it be done at all? Seems like there's a ton of room in there but the weight bias has me wondering.
Anyone know the weight comparo of a KLR650 and an EX500 lump?

I'm glad I'm not the only one!! Have been begging my regional rep for years to import these bikes. Do a search for KLE 500 Alot of info, alot of clubs, maybe they could give you a better idea if it can be done. They built the 650 Tengi in the early 90's. Knowing Kawasaki, I would assume they're useing the same frame.

I read about a guy that had a bored 650 and turned it into an 8?? when it was finished. I think it dynoed at 68hp or so.
Good luck, might as well sell the KLR and get a KTM or something else.
