Actualy I have also a degree in History And what you say it's not exact typical example of your lack of studies ..
What you say it's what your learned on TV..

i see that you know shit about Napoleon's and the purshase..

I the U.S had a war home land the French would be there and die for you..
They critisice very much but they 'll be there you can count on it..

Also i'm French and spend time in many places in the states beleive me, to be french it's not that easy in the states.
Like today i have been notice that i have 30 days to find a new Home..Some peoples take those TV news at the extrem..
Do you want me to tell you my misanventure in New York? ANd how the peoples were nice...
Yes a agreed that America is spending a lot of money in Military but what do you think when i hear around me and in the news that If your not with America , your are against it.. or that is not american way of thinking..

By god til when? To a point that who are going to protect the world against this Mentality..

Trust me right now we do what an opposition is suppose to do , a balance t'il the ultimate act.. it doesn't mean that we will not fight or no engage war if it's nessecary..
Also Frenchs and Americans react exactly like a maried couple, they desigree but they'll be together for a long ride.
the English in the other hand they .. act english..

We are your closest allied for sure but now in desagrement or resonement.

fer goodness sake people, if we pull up every piece of history and every thing each of our countries has done wrong or could do better, we'll be here all week & all end up feelin pretty shitty about ourselves... u'r nto gonna find a single country that has carried itself thru history as a perfect collective gentleman, even less so when u start breaking the country down into sub-groups and individual citizens...

Didn't make any headlines in the french papers (that I could find). An excerpt from the New Zealand Hearld (source: Reuters News Service)

Ivory Coast's civil war erupted after a failed coup attempt in September. Officials say thousands have been killed and more than one million people have been forced to flee their homes.

More than 3,000 French troops are in Ivory Coast to protect foreign nationals and police a ceasefire line. Rebels have urged the French to stand aside, saying the soldiers are the only obstacle blocking their path to the two ports of Abidjan and San Pedro.

Rebels in Bouake said the French had told them that if they let the insurgents cross the ceasefire line it could mean violent reprisals against French citizens in Abidjan.

Thousands of foreigners have fled the sprawling lagoon-side city in the past two weeks after anti-French riots.

Kinda like Chad, huh? Oh yeah, they sign some sort of "peace accord" last year after the '98 revolt, didn't they? France might have had the diplomatic skills in "history", but they don't seem to fair that well today.

I still think the best of ya GOZR. Even though we'll never agree on this one, my friend. Like the French say it's not the American people, but our government leaders, my view holds true towards the French people (well... in most cases... some cases?)

Learned on Television? Thats pretty funny. And our news is all biased? Of course it's all biased. Everything is biased unless it fits your version. Freedom of the press is one of the corner stones of the United States of America's foundation. I can't vouch for you or your education, nor will insult you for it, but I am certain of mine. I am still waiting for you to deny and more importantly show me where France had no interest in North America.

Your comment about France being there is comforting. However in this world of ours perception has become more important then reality. I seriously doubt there are many people in France that doubt the United States comittment to France and its protection. On the other hand the perception in this country I would have to say the perception of France's comittment to the United States isn't there.

Do you personally believe that we should let Saddam continue to not comply with the conditions of his surrender and allow him to continue building weapons? Do you believe that the right way to handle this is to let him launch an attack on Israel, the US or some other country? Do we let him continue to finance terroists groups? What is required for the French to stand up and vote yes? Your comment about "if you are for the United States you are against them". Well I would have to ask is not a vote against the US a vote for Iraq? In 1992 48% of the country voted for Bill Clinton and he won the election. He did so because some really ignorant conservatives voted for Ross Perot. They showed us all. And those same people today insist that they did not elect Bill Clinton!

It is obvious that you are proud of your French heritage. I respect you for that. That said it is safe to say our opinions are different and will likely not change.

Zhooligan Our opinions are different on certain matter.. i just like it fair..
I like news to be just fact and neutral ( can't find the right word )

There is no use to insult the frenchs or insult the Americans..
Our relation are the oldest of all, politics and Media are destroying what many French and americans died for.. same cause.

During war like those there are alway interest in politics that we don't know.
........"Difference", like i said make a balance... and time to ask our self some questions..
Also under Bush politics ( all in fact ) i dought that there is not interest for u.s in Iraq.
WE are all guilty on part....
Time to clean the mess but fairly to the civilians..

I gotta admit, GOZR, that is a pretty cool statue you folks gave us. My biological heritage is German and French. I have also been around the world a few times. If anyone believes that their country is not doing everything they can to look out for number one, you're kidding yourself. I don't apologize for my country looking out for my best interests, be it physical security or financial security, whatever. Any other country would stomp on our nuts, if given the chance. That's the way the world works. Furthermore, NONE of us know everything that goes on behind closed doors in our respective governments. If anyone thinks that America is fooling it's citizens and other governments are wide open and honest, well, it's time for a reality pill. I think the overwhelming yearning around the planet to come to America speaks for itself. I guess my biggest regret today is that our brotherhood of ZX-12 owners is fueding. Like Rodney King said...........

bottom line is that the only way we are going to be able to deal with this problem is for the ENTIRE worlds support....unlimately when we go into Iraq, it will be time for the rest of the world to either shit, or get off the pot...either way, we as americans will know where they stand.......

Good point, HDL. And isn't that one of the first statements the president made after 9/11? "You're either for us or against us." I was glad to hear such straight talk.

Hell, I think we ought to just nuke everybody and annex Canada and Mexico (again). Screw 'em.

No, not really.

Guys, let's not get too serious here. There's not anything that ranting and raving on this board will accomplish. Except maybe to piss some people off. But what we don't need to do is confuse political disagreements with personal attacks. We don't need to bicker and argue amongst ourselves, and if we do, it should be in good fun.

I could post some French jokes, but that wouldn't be in good taste. GOZR, you are okay by me. But I have to wonder why the Germans and French are digging in the heels so hard...you guys have helped us out before in the Gulf war...there's more to what's going on than any of us know.

I hate everybody.

There. I feel better, don't you?

French Jokes

A psychology professor decided to study the way in which different people from different parts of Europe have sex with sheep. He traveled first to Wales, where he asks a farmer to explain his method: "Well, boyo, I put her back legs down my nice green wellies, grab her with me velcro gloves, and we're well away. Tidy! "The professor tries Scotland next "Hoots an' toots man, I put her back legs down my nice green wellies, grab her with me velcro gloves, and we're well away. Och aye tha noo!"The professor moves on to Germany:"Well, I find the most efficient way is to grab her with my velcro gloves, and we're well away. The professor is noticing a pattern develĀoping, so he decides to try France, and then end his investigation. He stops a bloke by the Eiffel tower named Pierre, and asks him to explain the French method:"Well monsieur, I put her back legs down my nice green wellies, sling her front legs over me shoulders, and that's all there is to it!"The professor is excited to have found some national variation and tells Pierre that this is different to the methods of the Scots, Welsh and Germans."How do they do it then?" asks Pierre, and the professor explains. Pierre on hearing the explanation walks of disgusted. "What! No kissing?"

A FRENCHMAN named Pierre was walking through the small town he lived in with a friend. He pointed to a row of houses and says, "You see those houses? I built those houses! But do they call me Pierre the Housebuilder..No"
They walked along a bit further, and he points to a number of boats in the harbour. "You see those boats? I built those boats! But do they call me Pierre the Boat Builder? NO!"
Then he turns to his friend and says "BUT MAKE LOVE TO JUST ONE GOAT AND YOU ARE LABELED FOR LIFE!!!"

There was a Frenchman, an Englishman and Claudia Schiffer sitting together in a carriage in a train going through Provence. Suddenly the train went through a tunnel and as it was an old style train, there were no lights in the carriages and it went completely dark. Then there was a kissing noise and the sound of a really loud slap. When the train came out of the tunnel, Claudia Schiffer and the Englishman were sitting as if nothing had happened and the Frenchman had his hand against his face as he had been slapped there. The Frenchman was thinking: 'The English fella must have kissed Claudia Schiffer and she missed him and slapped me instead.' Claudia Schiffer was thinking: 'The French fella must have tried to kiss me and actually kissed the Englishman and got slapped for it.' And the Englishman was thinking: 'This is great. The next time the train goes through a tunnel I'll make another kissing noise and slap that French bastard again.'

Q. What's the difference between a Frenchwoman and a werewolf?
A. The Frenchwoman is not quite as hairy but the werewolf smells better.

Q. Why did the French plant trees along the Champs Elysees?
A. So the Germans could march in the shade.

Q. Hear about the library that burnt down in Paris?
A. Destroyed their entire collection and they hadn't even finished colouring in the second one !

Q. What do you call a Frenchman with a sheep under one arm and a goat under the other?
A. bisexual

A French zoo had acquired a very rare species of gorilla. Within a few weeks, the female gorilla became very cranky and difficult to handle. Upon examination, the zoo veterinarian determined the problem. The gorilla was in heat. To make matters worse, there were no male gorilla species available.
While reflecting on their problem, the zoo administrators noticed Pierre, an employee responsible for cleaning the animals' cages. Pierre, it was rumoured, had the ability to satisfy any female, but he wasn't very bright. So the zoo administrators thought they might have a solution.
Pierre was approached with a proposition: would he be willing to have sex with the gorilla for five hundred Francs? Pierre showed some interest, but said he would have to think the matter over carefully.
The following day, Pierre announced that he would accept their offer, but only under three conditions. "First," he said, "I don't want to have to kiss her. Secondly, I want nothing to do with any offspring that may result from this union."
The zoo administration quickly agreed to these conditions, so they asked what about the third condition. "Well," said Pierre, "you've gotta give me another week to come up with the five hundred Francs."

An uncle fought in Vietnam and my brother tried to keep the Syrians and the Israelis apart on Golan.
