Clutch issues with zx12 2000 , need help please .

just bought a 2000 zx12 and have had nothing but problems with this bike . The clutch was not fulling engaging so I took it apart and saw that the clutch pin and pully where damaged as well as the clutch pin bearing. the only thing I can think of is that the pin keeps spinning on the clutch lever causing it to wear down. I repleaced the parts and within minutes I had the same problem again. The clutch will not engage fully and the bike has horrible wheel chatter when accelerating. Gonna pulll the clutch out today and take a look but I am beside myself as to why it is doing this . Any advise would help .

Thanks in advance.

if the stack height is too tall then the puller in conjunction wit the clutch puller will wear n may even chip, this will cause the bike to creep on u even when the clutch is pulled in and also hard to get into nuetral, also i would go wit the oem clutch, fibers n steels, n go as tall to the 57.6 mm that u can go, this will avoid high rpm slippage, or at least it did for me, I've went through 2 pullers and rods in 5 years, i'm thinking this is because the heavy clutch springs decrease the life span of those parts,

THx , I am gonna check the plates and steels again and I have been doing a lot of reading and how the plates can swell etc . I think that might be my problem. The ower before me has not been riding long and I can imagine he rode the clutch quite a bit

the hub is kinda hammered....the puller is toast obviously.
You need the manual.
Id check all the fibers for thickness.
KZScott has a post on clutch build for beginners....
Ronayers fiche will give you some price info on replacement parts.
Most guys get the 02 up hub and basket....the a models had know issues.
stay away from aftermarket fibers....just use the OEM
Some guys use 3 zx6 srings for a little more pressure.

yes ur rod n clutch release are terrible, get rid of them asap, they both will cost bout 30-40 a piece, but u definitely need them, i'm thinking that alone would fix ur problem but ur steels look like junk but as long as they not warped i'd clean em up n go, as long as ur fibers on in spec, check ur stack height n put her back together. N i would also try n go wit a billet basket or like he said 02 or newer

Checked my friction plates today. Most are at 3.1mm one or 2 at 3.0mm . Factory standard is 3.22 - 3.38. I think I am on to something here . You all have been a huge help. I will keep you posted.

You need to buy a new 2002 hub, frictions, steels, clutch puller & rod, new 2002 OEM clutch springs, all new clutch spring bolts...

If you just street ride then the basket is ok, if you DragRace or occasional street racing then a billet basket is a must...

Then your clutch will be perfect and no more problems

You need a hub, your clutch performance will be excellent !!!

You do need spring bolts, due to the condition of the allen heads...You dont want to strip the allen socket, then bust ur ass tryin to get the bolt out with the stripped head...Buy new ones then u will never have to worry!!!

Alright , finally got the parts , installed everything properly today and the clutch seems to be kinda engaged . Does not seem to be pulling enough. The lever is not getting worn out anymore but the clutch pressure plate does not seem to be pulling far enough apart. The gears are so hard to change and I can not put it into neutral when the bike is running. Thinking thinner steels? or set the bike on fire ?
