Commander in Chief, Leader of the Free World and my brother

That was the introduction that Jeb Bush gave for his brother this morning in Mayport, Florida. I like and support our president, but have thought for a while that he was a pretty boring public speaker. I guess he was on his game this morning or maybe it is just a lot different hearing it in person.

My wife and I had the pleasure to stand on the pier with approx. 5,000 other sailors and their family members and listen to his short speech. He actually got the crowd going pretty good with some of his comments.

One thing I took away from the visit is the fact that we are very near to the beginning of the action with Iraq. He made a little plea to the U.N. to step up and enforce the resolutions, but mostly just reaffirmed that we would not shy away from doing what was right and protect freedom for ourselves and our allies.

Got back to my quarters in time to watch Air Force One take off on TV while listening to the roar of its turbines coming in from the open screen door.

To all my brothers and sisters deployed overseas. Take care, be safe, and kick some ass. Then come home and celebrate with those of us who are so very proud of you! We can't thank you enough for the sacrifices that you are making to keep us safe and free.

It is sad, that out of so many intelligent people, America's choice for president is a shotgun-riding, Texan redneck. I have always thought, that a president was supposed to represent a country in more or less in every way. I would like to think, that the image that Bush portrays is not anything like what America and Americans are about. This world is not about kicking ass or "smoking out" people as he puts it. This world is about communication and education which lead to a dialog, rather than firing six-shooters. It is sad, that brute power and low intelligence can gain such a wide acceptance in a country as wealthy and as powerful as the United States. God bless America!...For it really needs it with a Fuhrer on the rise...

hrmmm

i absolutrely hate some of the stuff that has come out of this administration. the homeland defense ministry for one. the loathsome patriot act, which i pray gets buried. such things are an affront to honest americans. these are some.

as far as iraq goes, screw that SOB. he has it coming, i just hope not a lot of his citizens (that his cowardly self hides behind) have to get caught in he firefight. but knowing his tactics from past experience, there WILL be civilian losses. he will herd them at gunpoint into his military targets. it is sad. it is reprehensible. it is, unfortuantely, reality of THAT person.

If you have been buried under a rock since 1991, hristo, then i can accept that your ignorance causes you to be that way. if you have been under a rock, theni agree that you probably haven't seen the results of all the 'talking' and 'negotiating' that has occured, to no avail. instead i invite you to read some news stories, from foreign papers even. read up on 1990 and 1991. and every year thereafter. catch up onthe world as it is now old boy.

if however, you have not been buried under a rock, or with your head firmly planted up your posterior, then i 3rd, 4th, and 5th the previous sentiments.

people are going to go away from home, to protect your putrid existance. they are going so that you can sit here, and condemn their actions, even as they ensure that you can continue to do so. you, sir, have NO class. and if you are a ma'am, my apologies. but you are STILL classless.

as far as brute power and such goes, have you checked lately? WTF has hussein done to HIS OWN PEOPLE? bah you are a sniveling bedwetter. i hope you get diaper rash.

to all those who are out there protecting this prick's rights, Thank you, even if HESHE doesn't appreciate it. keep yer head down, come back ok?

Yeah, what's wrong with you guys???? If we just let well enough alone,we can finally become a socialist nation and the government will take real good care of us.
And then, when we're all one happy world, there won't be any of those nasty guns and things anymore, and we'll all love each other and be nice all the time. And also, when there's no more guns, and we're all nice to each other,it means that there won't be any more criminals or crime!!! Oh what a happy time it will be! Maybe someday our grandchildren will be able to say "my grandpa danced around with flowers in his teeth,so we could become a communist country" Can you believe that people actually used to fight and DIE for freedom???? how insane!!!!!

kicking hussein out of iraq is NOT a war.

a war is NOT defined by blowingup 12 bunkers and calling it a weekend

and btw, one man HAS decided that this event will take place.

his name is sadam hussein

you can posture, you can scream, you can pee your pants all you want, but the decision was made in 1990 (or earlier) that has led to this whole debacle.

the UN could not decide on a course of action to escape a wet paper bag with one end open

the UN needs to go away, it is worse than useless

N Korea DOES have the makings to be a messy situation. that i agree with. but you need to take things one day at a time instead of jumping on every front at once.

No, whoever STARTS the WAR, STARTS the WAR. When Hussein invaded Kuwait in 1990, HE started the action. WHO? will start it this time? Think of it this way. A barfight starts, as simple as it gets. Right? The cops come, first question they ask. WHO threw the first punch? NOT, who called whose mother a ugly toad. Simply, WHO THREW THE FIRST PUNCH!!! One things for sure, WHOEVER THREW THE FIRST PUNCH IS GOING TO JAIL, no matter how many other people go too. WHY? Because HE STARTED it!!! Do you think North Korea started this stuff by accident? They are using the Iraq situation to their advantage.

The UN has become a debate club. They have given up any global political power that they had. They set resolutions and then fail to enforce them. Now they want to wait and give Saddam more time to meet resolutions that were set in 1991. Shame on us for being a part of this for the last 12 years.

Anyone who can't see the need for action is probably the type of person who witnesses a crime, but doesn't stop the crime or report it because they are scared that the perpetrator might come after them. If you are that type of person, you are no better than the criminal committing the crime. You are, by your inaction, allowing a crime to be committed. They have a name for this type of person. You are a "COWARD".

A lot of good people made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure that you have the right to voice your opposition to war. If you really feel strongly against our going to war, then do something that may actually prevent the war. Get others with the same feelings and all of you stop hiding in your safe and free countries. Take your asses to Iraq and demand that Saddam disarm. I'm sure he will listen to you!

Don't complain about something unless you have a solution for the problem. If your solution is to continue the inspections, then history (the last 12 years) has proven that your solution is not viable. I think we have given Saddam too much time already. It is time to try something different.

When the actions starts, put down your anti-war banners and get behind the people that are doing something to keep you and your family safe.

You have the RIGHT TO PROTEST and the DUTY TO SUPPORT OUR TROOPS. Don't let them come home to anything less than a Hero's Welcome!

For the record, I couldn't care less about Iraq or the whole middle east for that matter. I just don't want to get on the Bad side of Russia, & China at the same time. The US may be the mightiest, but it's not a good idea to go against the next two biggest dogs at once. The Russian President went on record today saying it would be UNACCEPTABLE for the US to go in without UN approval. What do you think that means? Hugs & Kisses? They need that Iraq oil big time.

He did. His terms of surrender very explicitly detailed what he was and was not allowed to do. Those terms have not been followed, ergo (ding ding) round two!!!

Shit, they jail people for just being on the net. Why, because they are too friggin big & powerful, right? Or, are we(the US) just being cowards. No, I just think we are being smart.

If you are wondering why Russia is in opposition of our ousting Saddam, maybe this will clue you in:

The U.S. is cutting off financial assistance to Russia as of 2004. Russia has received more than $1.5 billion in assitance over the last decade, including $160 million last year. And this is how they are showing gratitude for the assistance. Hell we are used to this type of treatment, we get it from most of the nations that we help.

What line do you think they would have on this issue if they were still in need and receiving more of our tax dollars?

addisonzx12,

You are correct on the China issue. Sometimes it is smart to be a coward and live to fight another day.

The issues with Iraq and N. Korea are totally different. They both agreed to the resolutions and someone should make them honor their obligations.

No use in being a superpower if your going to let piss ant countries fuck you in the ass. As for the tougher opponents, sometimes it is better to weigh the cost and the expected results and make the wise choice. If it is going to cost more than it is worth, then it isn't worth doing.

As for the oppressed Chinese. Come on over, get a job and welcome to the neighborhood!

One more post before I hit the rack and dream about fireworks in Iraq.

I don't know why I keep getting stuck on the U.N. issue in regards to Iraq.
We have connected the terrorists involved in the attacks on 9-11 with the Iraqi government. We reserve the right to defend ourselves from further attack and to retaliate against those that aided in the attack or support the fleeing cowards that were involved.

YOU EITHER SUPPORT US IN THIS OR YOU SUPPORT THE TERRORISTS!

Which side of the line are you on?

I know where I stand on this issue and I am unwaivering in my support of those which will ensure that those responsible for 9-11 are punished for their cowardly acts. I never want to go through the emotions that I had following 9-11 again. I felt totally helpless to do anything about it and spent the better part of a month watching the television coverage while crying my eyes out. I have received a paycheck twice a month for the last twenty years to protect the citizens of this country. I take it personally that I failed to protect thousands of those that pay my salary and that it happened ON MY WATCH.

hristo....I have to get a few things off my chest, but I will do it as tactfully as I can.

1. I am overhere waiting to go into Kuwait, I have been in the US Army now for 14 years.

2. You are entitled to your opinion wether or not I or anyone else agrees with you.

3. I will not resort to calling you names or trying to bad mouth you....

SOme people are of the opinion that we should turn the other cheek, or give them another chance. How many chances do you give them?

Do you have anyone close to you sitting over here 20 miles from the Iraqi border?

what kind of world do you want you son or daughters to grow up in?

I am not got kicking everyones ass that doesnt agree with the US or our way of life. I do not agree with the President on most issues, but he is our commander and chief. And he, as well as millions of others in the US are tired of us getting shit on by the world. How many times do we help another country, just to have them shit on us...well lets see...France is doing it rightnow.....so is Germany....Japan....Russia....Panama......those are just the few that I know about...a few that have accepted our assistance only to later slap us in the face.

now I have one question for you...I f someone walks up to you and in the middle of a conversation, slaps you out of the blue, what would you do? turn the other cheek....and keep talking....and they slap you again...then what...how many times will you get slapped before you do something about it???

The way I see it, Saddam has slapped us a few times, he did itwhen he invaded our ally in Kuwait, in 1991. He did it again when he accepted our assistance after the war, and then talked shit about us to the world....he does it today with taunting the us and not complying with the sanctions that we in he agreement for assistance at the end of the gulf war. He does it by allying himself with the like of Osama....he takes the husbands and wives and sons and daughters away form their families by forceing us to maintain a force of threat over here to deter him from invadeing the restof the middle east.
Did you have friends or family that dies in New York... or in the pentagon...?

Did you ever have family members that were in the Military, or was your family one that always assumed people like myself would keep you safe and speaking english?

I guess its a good thing that I am not the president, if I were, we wouldnt have this problem, I would have run over Bagdad the first time, i woudl nto have helped them out afterwards..I would not rebuild the country after I destroyed it... I woudl have beat him down so bad that he, and every other terrorist bastard that ever thought about hurting the us in any way woudl think twice....I would have bombed the shit out of afganistan to get Osama....and everyone that was with him.....

Dont blame Bush for his "smoking guns" blame the idiots that issued the challenge and called him out to the street....One word of advice...dont draw on someone that is faster than you, and who shoots a bigger gun...

To all my friends I am sorry to have ranted on like this, you all know how I feel about this...and I am sorry to have taken up your board space and time, but I had to say something.....Jim
